Hi all
New to ArmA II?
Begin Simple with a bit of PvP using Vanilla ArmA II on a Vanilla server!
I suggest joining a Valhalla server. Dao run an excellent one with one hour matches of between 64 to 128 players there are several others that also run Valhalla! To get on it either filter on Valhalla in mission name or alter your server view by selecting play, for number players, in the view function. You may have to click it twice for highest number of player servers to come to the top. Since Dao tends to be full and runs larger servers they are usually at the top.
Fundamentals of ArmA Multiplayer
If you are new to the Multiplayer in ArmA II first of all read and download this guide by Terox; it tells you all the fundamentals:

Manual Authors
Can anyone who has an MP manual for a mission type or for some aspect of ArmA II Multiplayer please post a link to their on line manual in this thread. A quick reminder to Mission authors that the BIS wiki is good place to place your mission manuals.
This thread is not a place to discuss game forms or manuals; it is for linking to where you can discuss such game forms, and find information on ArmA II Multiplayer including game forms and their manuals.

There is a manual that comes with all copies of ArmA II. If you have not got one contact the publisher and report it to BIS.

Finding a server to play on
There are three basic ways to find a server in ArmA II:
- The in-game MP browser which uses GameSpy.
This has several functions such as the ability order servers by number of players, server name, ping etc. This you do by clicking on their heading. You also have a filter that allows you to search for a specific server or server type. This is fully described in the ArmA II manual see the link above.- External server browsers
They are listed in this stickied thread in the MP section of the forum:
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=78018- The clan servers in the ArmA 2 - SQUADS AND FANPAGES section
http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90
There is a stickied squad and clan list that gives a basic description of each clan as well as a link to their website. There are also individual threads for most clans so you can lean a little more on each.
Clans and squads vary in size from 10s up to 100s of individuals, and they cater for all game types. PvP, Coop etc. Some run their own internal leagues and ladders others are part of an external league. Some do not play ranked PvP. Others only play coop. Some have very formal joining and game play methods others are more anarchic.
Just choose a clan that suits you.
Team Vs Team, PvP Game Modes
Unlike other games in ArmA II you are not limited to official game modes. Users can make their own missions and game forms. This is often confusing for those used to just CTF and DM. Tom_Anger has begun keeping an index of PvP and TvT game modes in the top post of this thread that you will find useful if just starting out in ArmA II.
