    Error when starting arma 2

Hi, I installed arma 2 with no problems, but when I tried to run arma 2 I got an error message saying 'Error: Shader model 2 not supported anymore', and am not able to play it

Ive reinstalled it and still has the same error, but am now going to install the 1.02 patch and see what happens

Installed the patch and STILL have the problem!!!!!

I am also having this problem. Im running a radeon x800 x850 series graphics card. Would it be because my card is to old?

@jacko - what are the specs for your graphics card?

@popa - your card only supports shader model 2...game requires SM3

i'm guessing jacko has the same issue

And there are no drivers which update to SM3?

no, you need a new card. even if you could get the game to run it'd look like crap and be so slow that it wouldn't even be fun

I have a Radeon 4850 HD graphics card and a quad core processor with 2gb of ram and tons of hard drive space. I installed the game and I when i go to run it I get this error message as well. I just bought this video card and its 1GB and I really dont wanna have to return it and get a new one. Any suggestions

Update drivers and reinstall Direct X.

Your card is fine, as mentioned update your drivers and reinstall Direct X 9 (even if you're using Vista/7)
