"Standard soldier" faces were better in Arma1 ?

It seems to me that the quality of human models are quite uneven...

While Team Razor is nice (Love Cooper, Miles, and Sykes) the rest is a mixed bag...

Most black guys look great (see the guys talking on the carrier deck in the first campaign mission) but the standard "white" guy face seems awkward (Capt. Shaftoe, the pilot, your standard player in MP...)

I thought the morphology of the Arma1 standard caucasian soldier was more pleasing to the eye... The new one has a very thin chin/jaw and textures do not seem as sharp.

    What do you think ?

I noticed when someone talks their mouth animation is just horrid...they're worse than OFP

    haven't really noticed the textures

I totally agree with you. The faces look awful. I "hope" they're just unfinished and will be patched to a good looking final state.

I've seen a video and it looks like South Park when characters talk,I thought it was a joke, surely this must be WIP as I thought Arma 2 has better models and animations then ever.

I agree that the faces disapointed me a lot. I think arma 1 faces looked way more natural. Even ream razors faces dont look that good. Somehow they eyes seem to pop out and noses are too thick. All in all they look without emotion.

But didnt they use laser scanning to create the face models? guess it doesnt work that good...

For Team Razor it seems so.

For the rest, I'm not sure... anyway for "non-specific characters" the stylized approach used in Arma 1 seemed better. Many regular people have rather bland faces in real life, but no need to make them all look bad.

I hate to report to cap Shaftoe with his lowrez goaty and stange lips, like he's a witness for "When Cosmetic Surgery Goes Wrong".

No need to go for "Gears of Wars" o "Crysis" extreme heroic caricatures, but currently it seems strangely sub-par in terms of detail (compared to the rest of the game).

The current lipsync is bugged/too erratic but when fixed, this could be a nice improvement over the simple puppet style in Arma 1.

Make new ones. The original faces in ARMA2 was released somewhere on this forum by Kegety's i belive. I dont have ARMA2 yet but i do got the faces and will make some camo this evening.

There are hidden camo faces in there though made by BIS and i really hope they "activate" them in the face chooser in a patch. And the reason for that is that everyone will be able to use camo faces when online. We all know face.jpg often were disallowed online and you had to close ArmA and remove the file and load up again. Glasses are available in ARMA2 so i think BIS made camo should be too.

A realistic face generator with Ekman's Facial Action Coding System would have been nice.
But maybe for the next generation ArmA.
