Thread: Grass one of the reasons for bad performance ?

Grass one of the reasons for bad performance ?

How much CPU power does the grass that remains flat use ?
And if it really is lowering performance could BIS release a patch that adds a option to remove that feature. I think it's pretty useless anyway. Arma 1 grass that popped up right after you moved was just ok.

Almost none. The grass positions are cached anyway (this is a difference from ArmA), and the changes are done in this cache, not computed for each frame. Current system has much lower CPU impact than what we had in ArmA.

Oh ok. I was just wondering. Thanks for the quick answer and clearing this matter. No need for patch then.

You can disable grass completely by setting terrain detail to Very Low.

Yeah i know that of course, but i don't wanna do that. Looks pretty OFPish like that.

I know i should buy new CPU, mainboard and faster mems and my problems will go away.
