Twenty members of Morton Platoon of 2nd Battalion Volunteer Commandos operating on a rescue mission during Operation Helix, an anti insurgency push in central Takistan having taken place for the last two months
Morton Platoon engage during an ambush following a fast debus from the Landrover WMIK's. One soldier gravely injured in a traffic accident.
Chosen for their high speed, hard hitting punch, WMIK's with HMG's and GPMG's were deployed to the operation, their heavy machine guns proving essential in the breakthrough into the heavily guarded village of Garmsar
Terrain conditions in the region have been worsened by the recent late summer dust storms, with more vehicles rendered inactive due to accidents related to terrain than by enemy fire
A soldier of three section takes a quick breather while the platoon moves on to stage the final assault
A soldier of two section engages enemies in the final assault to free three downed crew members from an accident three weeks ago. All members were recovered successfully with no combat losses beyond the earlier mentioned RTA
