Ok.. what was done to the abrams?

4 times now ive had my abrams knocked out by 1 single frontal shot from a t-80.. and I dont mean damaged turred I mean DEAD crew killed etc etc.. and this is a totally fresh tank.. however I have not managed to ever kill a T-80 with one shot from the abrams..

they used to be comparable, but now it seems that for shits and giggles the abrams has been VERY weakend.. its about like the t-72 as far as armor goes it seems..


ok and for the bug.. this bug has been around FOR EVER.. if you fire all your sabot or heat rounds and then try to rearm it will not rearm them.. for instance you fire all of your Sabots and 4 heats.. at the rearm your heat will be rearmed but not the Sabot... its like that once you have used all your sabot the game acts as if you NEVER had any to begin with.. thus they do not get reloaded.

Oh so IRL the M1A1 and T-72 have comparable armor?? that speaks volumes for you.

first off a T-80 and M1A1 have never seen eachother in battle..

second the t-72 and t-80 have the same main gun.. ***125 mm 2A46M-1 automatic smoothbore gun with thermal sleeve

In desert stom some M1A1s were hit by the T-72's and thus the same gun the T_80 has.. but never were any knocked out with a single shot.. in fact none were ever killed by t-72s..


so you cant really say how well a T-80 would do against the M1A1's gun, but you can get a deacent idea how well a A1 would do against a t-80s gun because its the same as the t-72 (125mm SB)

so the idea of a T-80 hitting the frotal armor of a M1A1 and completely destroying it with a single shot.. is just not realistic..

What is your range? I'm pretty sure that if a T-80/72 got within >100m It's cannon could punch through a M1A1's frontal armour, but at realistic engagement distances the M1's armour is far superior. Now in OFP I've never been in a tank battle that isn't a knife fight, so manybe it's realistic in that way, but at the same time the M1's gun should knock out the T-80 at the same distance.

Get real, it's a bug.

Regardless of "real life", the fact of the matter is that in the game, M-1A1 tanks take at least 3 or 4 tank shots to disable, much less kill. The fact that it has suddenly dwindled to 1 is not an adjustment, it is a bug. Otherwise, BIS has made the US's tank forces useless, as they can all be taken out in one shot.

to answer daygow it was at around 700m.. I was playing on desert malden witha viewdistance of 2800m..

the thing is that before 1.46 the abrams and T-80 were comparable.. which is the most realsitic and fair seeing as how there is no hard evidence (available) to really put one head and shoulders above the other.. but now suddenly the M1A1 has had its armor lessened to that of the T-72..

and yes at 100m I doubt any tank could take being directly hit.. but that goes for the t-80 too.. and in the game it easly takes a frontal hit or 2 from the A1 sabot or heat.

Yep, its just you... checked it out.

M1A1 took 5 sabots to turret (front) before destroyed by t-80.
M1A1 took 5 sabots to hull (front) before getting destroyed by t-80.

T-80 took 3 sabot rounds to turret (front) before getting destroyed by M1A1

T-80 took 3 sabot rounds to hull (front) before getting destroyed by M1A1.
