I was wondering will this gaming rig play arma 2 on high/very high settings not maxed out though
intel core i5 2400 k
gtx 550 ti
8 GB ram
Please state your opinions
never seen a 2400K, is it a 2500K?
550 Ti is a bit on the light side, but should run fine as long as the gpu heavy settings aren't too high.
2400K CPU existed, however 2400 and 2400T is more common ;-)
basically, SB provide decent IPC/Watt/bucks ratio for Arma2, while IB remove quite dangerous errors in CPU, along with TDP polishing.
First let me say I am a complete noob when it comes to pc gaming. But this game has caught my eye and I'm eager to give it a try. So I'm looking for a budget pc that will play this game well. So please pc gamers let me know if this will play it smoothly.

That's what I am looking at and also I will be using my 32in lcd tv as my monitor. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
not likely. arma 2 is particularly heavy on CPU, so I'm afraid k10 based apu will fail you. the integrated GPU doesn't even satisfy the recommended hardware requirements, not to mention the actual requirement.
is there no way the budget can be increased slightly?
if not, I recommend that you'd build one yourself. I3-2120+b75+hd6870 should be manageable![]()

The biggest problem is the slow CPU and the onboard graphics. You eventually may be able to run the game, but it wouldn't be fun.
I merged your thread into this one, take a look around what other people here use or recommend.![]()
I've got to decide whether to put my Phenom II X3 720 in my brother's PC or wait until I get his faulty Athlon II X4 640 replaced. Which of those would be better for Arma2/3? I know the Athlon II X4 has an extra core but the Phenom II X3 is unlocked so easier to overclock and I think it has a bigger L2 cache as well.
This is only my spare PC which my friends use when we play LAN games and my main PC has a Phenom II X4 955, so no need to tell me that neither of those two processors are ideal for Arma and I should get something better![]()
Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.6Ghz, 16GB DDR3, MSI 990FXA-GD80, 2GB 6950 (unlocked to 6970, 900/1350Mhz), Win7 x64 Ultimate
wont be much between them I think.
