Unable to load this game

Hello everyone. First time for me here in this forum, I'm looking for some help.

I recently purchased ArmA Armed Assault (Version 1.05 Bohemia Interactive... 505 Games - think that means it's a European version of the game, though I purchased it in Australia). I can't get anything whatsoever out of the game...no screenshots, introductory cutscenes, game menus etc. You could look here for another of my attempts to get this game working - http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs....0590691

This is what happens...I load the game either by desktop icon, through the Start menu, or through autostart when reinserting the DVD. The mouse icon starts spinning a CD to inform me that it is reading the DVD, and then it stops with the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death.

I have tried to install the 1.08 patch, but it told me that one file failed to transfer properly. I have reinstalled the latest Direct x 9.0c driver, the latest driver for my video card, the latest AGEIA PhysX version 7.11.13, uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I then received a DIFFERENT BSOD stop code (First one was STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x8574500A, 0xB9FB9288, 0x00000000). The second one was STOP: 0xC0000005, 0x8560C003, 0xB9D2628C, 0x00000000.
My PC specifications are:
Intel Pentium 4, 3.40GHz, 1GB RAM, NVidia GeForce 7300GS 256MB DDR2

Can anyone help me pinpoint my problem, assist me with new ideas to try, even solve it?

I have received good reviews of the game's predecessor Operation Flashpoint from a co-worker, who said it'd be worthwhile getting this game. I am begining to doubt him now. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried patching to 1.08? Then 1.09?

Isnt 505 EU version 1.04?

I dont remember if there is a 1.04 to 1.08 patch or if he has to update to 1.05 first, then update to 1.08 and then update to 1.09beta >> urgh .
Be sure to use the 1.08 for the EU version, theres a 1.08 patch for the US version only (1.06 to 1.08) (i think).

I also think we could use a sticky with information of how to patch Arma.

Make sure to patch up to 1.09 Beta, it removes the problem caused by the copy protection, what could very well be you`re problem atm.
