Screen shaking, screen blurred while shoting a...

Recommended Posts

Hallo guys,

I would be glad about this feature on ArmA 2.When you start shot with any weapon like Hellfire,FFAR,or 30mm Canon, your screen would start to shake and become blurred.

Just look at this Video, don't take it to serious and don't concentrate on the content of the Video.Just look at the shaking and blurred screen while the gunner is shoting a Hellfire.

And please formulate meaningful posts, and don't post like this "this is stupid" or "this is shit",this is not meaningful!

Greetings

I think its possible to do this all in ArmA already there is some settings what allow modding playerinput and some dx9 effects by changing some values.

Cool! Could you do this feature for me? (irony)  biggrin_o.gif

But i would be glad about to see it also on ArmA 2. wink_o.gif

Shaking screen and blurred vision are just an additions, to the mission design, gunner's interface, weapons' realism, pilot/gunner behaviour and radio communication. But that's the toughest part to simulate.

Yes right, i also would like to have those loud cockpit-noise and shaking's while flying a helicopter/plane etc..

shacking in weapon optics ok, but in player view while flying?...

you do know that in that last video its a camera straped down on the dashbord. the human eye compensates for any slight movment or vibration. through a camera it would be shacky from the aircrafts vibrations, but the pilot sees everything nice a smooth, he only feels the vibrations.

its like when your riding in a car on a bumpy road, you feel the bumps, and see the car it self shake, but everything you see out the windows looks fine.

Don't forget bro,the noise is just from the camera, the pilots don't have that laud sound in the cocpit, cuz they are wearing ear protection!Maybe BIS should make a diffrent sound for Soldier without ear protection, and for the Pilots.

HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!

Regardless, helicopters make terrible weapons platforms because they vibrate and shake around. Combat helicopters are actually kind of a strange balancing act, because adding weapons to a helicopter degrades the performance of both the helicopter and the weapons! These vibrations and bumps are transmitted to the pilot and he can is for sure affected by them. I think that it would go a long way to improve the immersion of flying helicopters to have the cockpits a little more live. As with the gun optics in ArmA, you can have the cockpit moving independently of the player view. If you animate the helicopter or player view to bump around a bit, or have bumps and vibrations transmitted to the player's camera via a simple spring\damper simulation, I think the experience would be greatly enhanced.

I don't know what variables are accessible for vehicle movement, but to relate the amount of screen shaking to the acceleration (both positive and negative) of the helicopter would be nice.

Sure, it could be done with a script that checks for the helicopter's coordinates and calculates acceleration, but it would be smoother to just be able to borrow the numbers from the game.

Light blur around the screen from firing weapons would also be nice, as the body tension to counter the recoil and the movement of the body would make it hard to keep perfectly focused.

I agree with the vibration of the helicopter, although everything beyond the helicopter, (like buildings, terrain, ect) should not shake. If we're going to be able to shoot from the cargo of helicopters then this would be important to reduce accuacy. Also, I already noticed that in this video, at about 1:45, there were some special effects on the windshield, but I was also thinking that the glass could have other special effects. What about water and sand?

Use 0:45 of this video as an example. What if water effects like that appeared on the glass of vehicles when in the rain or near splashing water, (like if someone is shooting it)? I think it would look really good and make the game a bit more intense.

The same can be said about sand. Maybe if a helicopter is taking off on a desert or beach the windshields will have a slight orange tint to look like sand.

Obviously both effects would disappear very quick, but I think it should be automatic and not windshield wipers because that would be just another key to remember.

Another small feature I'd like to see is that when shooting through trees and bushes leaves should fall off. Obviously I'm not talking about realtime tree destruction, but just simply having a line of cut leaves appear hidden in the branches and then float down to the ground. To make it better they should react to the wind.

In Arma the aircraft, cars, and guns feel more human than machine, this is partly because they're handling is "perfect", however, nothing in life is perfect. To improve this BIS needs to add some of the smaller features people are asking for, like the shaky aircraft. Other details that would improve this:

-Make the weapons on vehicels, like the M2 on the humvee or the minigun on the UH-60, vibrate and shake when being shot. The shaking shouldn't be so bad that the accuracy is decreased to much, although it might be interesting if it promoted firing in burst. In fact, why limit this to just vehicles and not all weapons in general?

-The civilian cars handle too smoothly. The acceleration should "jump" either at random or when the gear shifts. When braking it would be nice if the car could lose friction and skid to skid to a stop or even lose control.

- The AI could be fixed to act more human. There's not much to say about this because it looks improved in this video at 1:00. Maybe if they're surprised by the enemy they should turn there head and look for cover, and then sprint to it while sheilding themselves with they're arm.

There are probably more, but that's really all that I can think of at the moment.

Anyways, like all of my ideas, realism is the first priority, and my military knowledge is quite low.

DaV!d Armstrong as someone who in their short time here has had to be spoken to on more than one occasion about breaking forum rules you'd think that by now you would have learned to follow them.

mr.g-c even if the video you link to is within forum rules, you can still fall foul of those rules if there are other links visible from that first link which break forum rules. I would suggest that if you want to show a video as reference you download the video from the site which has other questionable content and host it on a free download website instead.

Hah *scratch head*?

In this video there is nothing with violence or such kind of "abusive" content - It was just a helicopter flying ?!. What from this site is questionable content (if i may ask you)?

Also i cant download videos from there....

Best Regards, Christian

People were being killed in the video. Whether it's right or not is not for us to talk about here but I do know that it is against the forum rules to post links to such things.
