Thread: Blur script with parameters

  1. #1
Seeing I can't get my own scripts to work ......
Requesting if anyone has a script that blurs or errodes (with variable strength parameters etc) only certain heights.
ie, I need to blur below -1.0m to smooth out the shore as it enters deeper water.

BTW, a REAL pain that Visitor doesn't have some terrain "paint" tools like Wrp Tool to tweak land contours

    Thx

Sorry I am an idiot when it comes to scripting. My method for doing is this to export the .pew file to a .png file and then edit that in a graphics editor. It's easy then to select the greyscale colors which match the elevations you want to modify. Once selected I use the various tools in the editor to smooth the terrain. Once done I import the .png file to Wilbur, do final touch-up, save, and reimport the height map into Vistor.

Thanks Nick, but I guess you have a Gfx Editor that handles 16biy Greyscale, otherwise you would loose resolution.

I don't have a Gfx Editor that handles 16bit greyscales, but have managed to do your way in the past via 2 or 3 different conversion tool, but because of that reason I wanted something simpler.
V3's Erosion tool seems a little hit and miss at time and the Buldozer "edit height of 1 vertice at a time" is way too slow

    Thx

I use Paint Shop Pro 8. Have you tried GIMP?
