Desert Camo M4A1

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i saw some people talking about wanting a Desert Camo'd M4A1 in the thread for leo's awesome M107 skin, so i figured i'd take a crack at it. Please post any suggestions or comments you have on it.

So far what is colored

-M4 Receiver/barrel/ForeGrip

-Silencer and Flashlight, but not the Laser.

-Aimpoint

Not Colored

-Magazine

-Grip

-ACOG

-M203

I will probably not skin the ACOG/M203 because i believe it would apply to the M16 as well so it would look quite strange.

Plans - Probably lighten it a bit, and downsize the dark stripes in some areas like the stock. Also try and make some of the details of the gun come through a bit more, also make some of the paint chipped off and worn. I also might do the SPR and other weapons in the future.

This is my first real attempt at modding anything in ArmA so please go easy , i know its not that great but i hope you enjoy. biggrin_o.gif

That is exellent but you don't need to colour the magazine they dont do that because it's not a fixed part of the weapon  smile_o.gif

Actually I don't think you need to lighten the paint scheme.

I was just watching my DVD of "Bravo Two Zero" and your

colour scheme exactly matches their weapons in that.  smile_o.gif

What you could do, though, if you want to, is add a layer

of very light coloured dust on top of that paint scheme.

Yes, all of Iraq is not a desert like alot of people think. I saw snow when I was there. It gets really cold and rainy in the winter. If you need anymore pics, give me a hollar and I'll see what I can dig up.

Little advice and if not mistaken, one of the 'features' of krylon (afaik the most used camo paint) is that it has a matte or not reflection surface, so when looking at your first attempt i would suggest to tune down the specular maps...

OFFT:

Nice to see you got yourself a BAS2 sign monty. Keep it safe...

EDIT: overlooked that second camo pic, that one looks much better. For some good realistic paint jobs, check out the PSD kit that SASR Sabre made. Hm, i think he edited his upload link as it doesn't show anymore in SJBs topic. If needed, PM me and i can host it for you (if SASR Sabre still wants it public availible). But bussy atm, won't have time untill tonight.

Hi, texture or retexture in CS kind of textures is much more easy

than do it in the current ArmA kind of textures. Was much more easy

do my M4's for the OFP than do the same for the ArmA, overall because

we haven't a 3D tool where check how the texture progresses; so

is not that easy to do now for the ArmA, also the different sizes of

the weapons parts putted all together in the same texture, this makes

that do any kind of pattern over the weapons be much more hard

than with the CS kind of textures, texture "my" M4's pack was very

easy, and add effects, lights, shadows, patterns etc etc. But good

there, those 1St M4's look good, the 2Nd ones... ain't like that too

orange/brown tone, but they still look good. Let's C ya

Alright well i've been busy, but haven't gotten time to post in awhile because of summer-school and such. Anyways, i think it just about done, right now i think i've found a good amount of paint that is worn off. some changes since last update;

-Three Colors in the camo

-Edited the wearing of the paint

-Darkened the metal

-Magazines are now black instead of gray

-Silencer and Aimpoint have small edits as well

So tell me what you guys think. Ready for release? When i do i will also include the darker one in the 1st post of this thread too.

and last but not least, a little preview on what i'm working on next;
