I played around with settings , updated drivers etc. and managed to get about 25-30 FPS out of my card (7600GT 256M). Not the greatest but the game is playable enough for me to learn now anyway.

The BIGGEST revelation was to discover that the sights move a few degrees before the background does which gives the illusion of lag . Every other game I've ever played has the scenery moving with your mouse movements ALL the time so this approach seemed strange.

    DOH!!!

Its called a floating crosshair its been in the game since OFP.

You can set the "float area" in the options screen.

Personally I tink its the best ting ever tought off.

I prefer it about half-way. It allows you to move the weapon without moving your whole body, also helps a bit when peeking around corners.

You can aim a whole lot quicker if you keep it on. Just like real life, you're not going to be able to turn around in a split second. However, if you leave the float zone on, you can set the sensitivity and then aim as quickly as you want within the zone.

I've never been able to get to grips with the floating zone. I would get used to it over time but I just turn it off instead

Its really nice when you get used to it. With it enabled you will have a much better aim with e.g. AT weapons since you won't be slowed down as when floating zone is disabled.

You should try and leave it at about half the floating zone meter. It will change your experience : )
If you can't beat it, EAT it!

You know I may just have to reenable the floating zone to see how it really works. I set my slider way to the left and now aim like I do in other games, but BIS put the floating zone setting for a reason, Im going to try it out and get used to it.

About 25/30% feels ok for me .

In 100% it got almost weird, expacely with some addon weapon's sights. Weapon handling very quite flexible and in small spaces it was good if body wasn't able to turn. Maximizing benefit from cover was also great with 100% as body stayed still even when weapon was turned alot

Shame that it didn't affect to recoil and accuracy negatively. I reduced floationg zone to about 20-30% because of that... Felt like cheating.

    Thumbs up

Should actually also be more fluid as the computer doesn't have to calculate the whole background again. I like it
