Thread: A.I. Skill Settings

Is this ever going to be via patch? I'm sure a lot of people think the ai is to accurate, and not many of them know you can change the values.

"Realistic" is a bit of a two-edged sword. If you can reliably see, identify & hit a target at 300m then realistically the AI should also. A rather excellent player might be able to do it very fast, and so a highly skilled AI should also be expected to also.

In fact, all things being equal then you should expect a kill ratio of 50:50 for you and a sufficiently realistic enemy which means that as soon as you kill one AI then your life expectancy is dropping sharply

For the sake of decent playability however a player is expected to kill far more times than he is killed, which means that the AI skill is necessarily set below the human player. Witness any amount of whining when missions are set too high

Myself I prefer an AI to have a high skill, but a low accuracy, allowing me to survive some amount of time against superior forces while still having the possibility of being spotted early & outwitted generally. 10 enemy troops with accuracies set to 0.3 will surely kill me more efficiently than 1 enemy with an accuracy of 1, the trick is not to expose myself to 10 enemies

Thanks for the replies guys. The A.I. definitely seem to act more realisticly with skill set to 1.000000 and precision set to around 0.400000. I think BIS should have added a precision slider to the difficulty menu. Especially for those who complain about the superhuman A.I., but don't that you can edit it in the profile. Hopefully this option can be included in a future patch, because it would definitely lead to a decrease of posts on how the A.I. is to good.

It's just that their accuracy is better than their spotting skills set even on 1. Especially for planes/helos and ground vehicles. It was better in the 1.07 beta, but I've seen tanks engaging each other with MGs on longer distances, and switching to the cannons when they got closer, which was another thing, probably related with the weapons selection..

What's the point of having hellfires if you can't use them within a decent range, because gunner has eyes problems? Apart from the skills and precission settings, that can be easily modified, it should be solved in the nearest patches...

I hate it when the AI shoot me head 500 meters away with only 1 shot at 02:00 during a heavy rain storm while I'm hiding in the shrubs.

I wanna see you try that!
