Thread: Visual settings?

  1. #1
    hey all.

i was looking around Arma sites and after seeing some nicely edited photos of Arma used as the site header, banners and buttons i was wondering if there was someway to start Arma with a specific visual setting.

For example OFP had DXDLL that was able to tweak hard light, saturation and colour channels and imho made bland purple ofp more lively.

But im aware Arma doesnt have a program like this yet.

Thus i was wondering if we could do something to have the same effect in maybe the nVidia and ATI controls that initiates ONLY when Arma is started?

As it is now i, personally, feel that Arma is a tad bit on the flat side in terms of contrast and i wouldnt like to adjust the gamma much since its a bit too general in its effect.

    Any ideas?

I put gamma (i think) to 0.6 (i think), improves it for me.

something like OFP's DXDLL for ArmA would take alot of someone's time to complete and I expect those brilliant programmers would much prefer to be making mods for ArmA.......saying that, yes the colors in ArmA could do with a little less saturation and it's quite simple to do by adjusting your monitors RGB via the control panel.

I use 3Deep. Love it. After that, I set my nvidia saturation to its highest Low setting on the slider. Games look awesome. For AA as well, I turn down the gamma to 0.8 I believe.

Turn on a bit of Digital Vibrance from the Nvidia drivers. It's under "Desktop colour settings". It adds a bit more colour to the game. Looks much better. I have it at 28% but it depends on your other settings too. I also turned the gamma up a bit to 11%.

hmm ill take a look at 3Deep later on.

I know the nVidia CP has that tweaking thingy but i only want the tweak for Arma and not for the entire desktop. Photoshop, Avid, Vegas etc looks nice on my screen and i wouldnt want to distort the color for fear of having different colors coming out when i print photos or play edited videos on tv. So the tweak should be program-specific (lack of a better term lol).

    keep the suggestions rollllllllling in!

I just tried 3Deep and did the necessary calibration it asked me. I found out my secondary monitor, a CRT, is dying out. Thanks.

Coupled with 3Deep i decreased the gamma settings ingame from 0.8 to 0.4 and set testure details to normal.

Everything is so vibrant and lively now!

But still i dream of the day we could set the RGB values of the game. Arma in Band of Brother's visual theme. Mmmmmm....
