Thread: Is OFPE an Xbox Original/Classic

1. #31
If they're gonna let Arma 2 run on the 360 then it'll have to have lower minimum requirements than ArmA 1... unless some of the xbox optimizations from OFP:E in the engine carry over to the 360. Otherwise, it seems more likely to me that it'll be on PS3 than on the 360. Unless they yank the view distance down, or the texture quality, or who-knows-what-else.

I still think it's interesting that the depth of field postprocessing works better in OFP:E on my xbox than on my PC in ArmA with 5x the computing power ;p

[that's not fair, the latest patches for arma have allowed me to turn it back up, but still ;p]

dwringer- thiss game is not more likely to work on PS3, the 360 has been developed in a way which makes it easier to port PC games to it. plus i think the numbers thrown about by sony (about processing power e.t.c) are meaningless when games on the two consoles are compared, overall the two consoles are probably about equal. also OFP:E was on xbox.

(ps. this is not a rant or fanboyism).

I disagree. Call of duty 4 seems to have much better graphics so that proves the 360 can handle ArmA 2 in all it's greatness.

Lol.. PS3?

The 360 is more powerful overall I think.

If it isn't then its at least roughly the same.

ArmA II will run on 360. And probably just about on PS3.

Oh yeah, and as someone above mentioned, the 360 is easier to develope for. (Damn my spelling)

And anouther thing... Why are bitches whinging about "Oooh ArmA II being on console will dumb it down for PC!"

Looks like the ArmA II PC version will be released BEFORE a console version, plus the fact console optimization ISN'T PC optimization? Durh?

EDIT: Oops... This isn't too mutch of an old thread is it?

Actually in raw power the PS3 is pretty much superior to the 360 in almost all areas. However, where the 360 has the upper hand is in ease of development from PC platform to 360 (can't really call them ports because they are so similar anyway). A game developed for PC or 360 can easily be produced for the other platform. Personally I'd prefer to see BIS put as much effort into a 360 version as possible because its multiplayer functionality is leagues ahead of the PS3.

i prefer the 360 over the pc. not really sure why i guess because 360 has live.

I keep having people ask me if I'm going to 'port' my work from A2 to A3. I'm not going to 'port' anything. Will I be making new original work? Possibly.

Controller (no desk needed), XBL, Friends, Works-out-of-the-box (in hires), Put-in-dvd-and-play ... just the occassional RRoD to worry about ...

... enough reasons for me

dwringer don't spam please.
If someone reports an issue/complains about the Alpha etc, replying in the thread "dude it's an alpha" doesn't really help anyone! Point them to the Arma3 Alpha feedback tracker instead please!

Please do not PM or Email me directly about your CD Key issues, follow the guidance in this thread instead.
