Why cant Ai see over sandbags?!

Im trying to make a mission with men holding taking cover behind sandbags, i use the "this setunitpos "middle" to keep them crouched behind but they wont engage enemy. They do when they have a grnd lnchr or AT but they dont fire ther rifles until the enemy are about 3 meters away, its so lame wastchin the soldiers follow the enemy soldiers with ther guns but no firing

The sandbags seems to interfere with their Line of sight and line of fire.
Workaround solution is to either sink the sandbags a bit into the ground or use a palette object under the feet of the units behind the sandbags to rise their position a bit.
