Don't be too worried about updating video card drivers.
If there is no problem then you don't need to update. If you have a problem then trying different driver versions, also older, is necessary.
For example, I can't use the newest NVIDIA drivers with my 6600 GT. I get graphical glitches in more than one game if I do.
This is the kind of s**t we need to deal with when using personal computers. It's a good advice, often ignored, that if it works then don't try to fix it. Consider yourself lucky if it works.

Windows XP pro x64, Version 5.2.3790
MSI K9A Platinum
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+

2x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 512MB (CCC 9.8)
So my rig is passed for using the game
And these are the settings for the game I'm using
So I was thrilled to start the game all settings on high so it has to look awesome!!
It looks like it's running on LOW setting.
Why is that?
What do I do wrong?

Is there a way to make arma1 run across two core processer?
you may want to try sorting out your PBO files by date, to recognise the addon files that where left over when you did the re-install. Try removing it.
Arma Gold (v 1.18) and Windows 7 64bit
