it's a nice sorta quick based game mode found in some other FPS.

is it possible to have in ArmA? using a script of course. i looked at ofpec and the ofp mission editing forum but didn't find much.

if its possible please explain how.

Frankly, yes, you can imitate just about any game mode in any game you want with OFP. It just requires scripting knowledge. I don't know the details of your game mode, if you could describe them it would be helpfull.

In the mean time, I'll point you to OFPEC. 90% of everything scripting wise that was relevent in ofp is still relevent in arma.

The questions you've gotta ask as a potential mission designer are this:
Will the game mode you desire likely be well suited to the arma engine?
Are you willing to put the time and effort into actually doing it?

Complicated missions aren't something you piece together overnight. I'm working on a mission with someone and between the 2 of us, it's taken a couple of months worth of work. Since I've been involved anyways, I don't know how much time he put into it before I came along.

I'm not trying to discourage you here, in fact quite the opposite. You do need to take an honest hard look at your commitment and your mission goals before you start though.

I would suggest you start simple though. You know, be able to piece together a couple of simple single player basic missions first. Work out the basics of scripting next, doing things like close air support and such, then moving on to more complex designs. Of course, that's just my opinion, and you know what opinions are like.

Everything I have released for ARMA can be found here.

Being familure with Advance and secure maps, the game type would suit AA as long as its thought about.
In JO, AAS maps have capture point 2-300mt apart, in Arma its got the scope to be much much larger. Very simular to CTI except the Capture point would need to be sequential if your doing it on a smaller scale than CTI (expecting a team of 10 players to hold all capture points at the same time would be a tall order. Sequential captures means the battle would have a front line, I.E the next capture point on the list. )
I was dragged through hell by certail Mod teams accusing me of theft. I was banned without question.

Recient information shows that Models were being placed in the public domain by trusted members of said mod teams. I was victomised because I had apparently downloaded one such model from the google website and was landed with the full blaim for the theft, uploading and creating some fantastical ruse to " cover up the theft".
Since the source of the models has came to light I was unbanned, but no appology has ever been tabled for the crap I had to put up with nor the crap anyone who associated with me had to put up with.
I see the leaking of the models by their own as poetic justice.
I still want nothing to do with BIS, those Mod team members, or other community people who were quite willing to burn me allive for A crime that they now know I didnt commit.

Do you mean one of the game mode types where your teams each start with like 4 capturable territories, with one neutral in the middle, all in a straught line, and you duke it out until one team has captured them all?

They dont need to be in a straight line, then can be in any location, but lets try to descridbe it a bit better.

lets say there are 5 bases, not counting each teams primary base ( numberd 1-5 for ease )
Blue may start with ownership of 1&2, Red with 4&5 leaving base 3 as the first hot zone. Both sides slug it out for controll of base 3 ( no restrictions on movement arround the map - no ring of death if you leave the area ) The next hot zone would be 2 or 4 depenfding who won controll. Teams can spawn at any base which they have fully captured ( spawning is dissabled once equal forces are present, or the owning team is in the minority forcing reinforcements to come from another available spawn ) Having things like vehicle respawn would only be included in very large maps, and only if it was a limited spawn otherwise I would personally leave vehicle spawn off ( to ensure some thought about the use of your teams resourses was " encouraged" ).
As I said, its a very simulat concept to CTI, only its got a more defined front line for the battle, rather than having all the players scattering to the 4 corners of the globe to try and capture many different points all with very little success. It generates larger more concetrated battles which will last for days if you dont have a time limit. CTI would have been better if it had been implemented that way as 25 players per team isnt enough to simultaniously capture multiple bases ( or defend them effectively ) Even in JO where the capture points are not sequential the battle bocomes less a Battle and more organised chaos. Sequential is the way to go.
errr i dont think i did a good job of that description....

A&S maps really help Focus the battle at one point at a time...It's great even in "straight lines"...and even better if the flags are FAR apart...Every wednsday and Saturday at 9:30 pm eastern time between 80 and 100 people get together to play A&S Using a Karrillion A&S template...Me and a team of mission designers would like to get together with ARmaGeDon...As we like to make A&S maps because we feel this is the best combat in arma..But there are some MINOR things we would like to change with his template...If we could get him to ASSIST us in changing some MINOR stuff with the template we would gladly use the AAS template by armagedon in our 80 man A&S wars...giving him most of the credit ofcourse..please pm me if you would like to participate in the A&S tournaments...please tell Armagedon to PM me as well...
