Thread: adjustable bullet drop?

  1. #1
Supposedly there is bullet drop in this game. For the acog scopes, are they adjustable for zeroing in on distance to target?

In Delta Force 2, we had a small range finder that we would use for adjusting the scopes to approximate distances. Just wondering if AA has allowed for this. Thx.

In ofp, there scopes were functional. I don't see why it wouldn't be so for ArmA.

Actually in OFP there was nothing that could compare to the manual range adjustment function of the scopes in DF2/DF3, in OFP the scopes could be +/- zoomed in or out depending on how they were defined in config but that was it, you could not "zero them" yourself ingame, but only by config change.

Hmm.. The m21 was adjustable so it would 'cam' upwards after estimating the range... The only difference between this and what you're talking about is preset incriments rather than a smooth transition, and, I guess, the presence of zoom.

I didn't completely understand before but now I do. There is range estimation and zeroing in OFP, but it's accompanied by zoom in the special case of the sight on the m21.

Well, Sniper scopes aside, I am very interested in seeing how BIS did it with the ACOG. My scope of choice. We need a small range finder, and a way to adjust elevation within the ACOG. This at least allows approximate distance setting. After that you`d still need to manually adjust somewhat your aim, like in real life.

DF 2 did that the best I ever saw in a game. Hands down. Be a bit sad if its not somewhat similar in AA.

Most ACOG scopes don't have external elevation adjustments, you have to special order it.

Since the ACOG has built in hold over points for elevations I'm not sure why you would want it anyway. If you're shooting at something beyond the hold over points then you might as well be using another rifle anyway because your stretching the limits of the rifle at that point.

Let's also not forget that we're talking about a 3.5x or 4x scope and if you're making 500+meter shots and looking for percision you should be using another scope as well.

Well if it was in DF2 then it must be real.

The game in question is called Armed Assault.
FYI the real 4x acog is a fixed scope, doesnt have a magical range finder, doesnt zoom and doesnt adjust elevation on the fly.

The devs decided to base the game counterpart on the rl thing, not DF2 .
