Thread: Mi24 and Appache are the Best!

Both are big and handsome choppers packed with awsome armour and payloads of mayhem. Hind is big round and chubby while the appache is squarish and green.
The Hind can even double-duty as a passenger carrier or rescue chopper. Enemy soldier and tank see it poo their pants! How can we not love it!
BTW, has anyone seen or took a ride in a real Hind? How is it like?

I like Black Hawks and Sea Kings better.

But in OFP , i think the Apache is the better one, Niether fly realisticly, But they look quite nice visualy, And pack a punch when the misslies actualy hit the target.

Will there be a program for OFP coming out that lets people modify the airodynamics of air craft?

If so when?
I can't wait to un-n00bify the helicopters to a more difficult and realistic state of flight.

My first serious sim was the old classic "Hind", and I must say this is one wicked helo. The Apache may be deadlier IRL, but it lacks the versatility and brutal good looks of the Hind.

IMHO, the Hind and the Hip are the two scariest helos in OFP.

I've seen an Mi-8 (what later became the Mi-17 through upgrades, but they look almost identical) IRL, pretty cool, damn big. It's what the Hind was based on as well, And yhea the Hind is wicked.

couple birthdays ago, i got a dual kit of both the appache
and the mi-24 hind, the kit was called "adversaries of the skies" i believe the hind was lookin good till i put too much model glue on the damn rotters and it ate it up like acid
i was soo pissed off i just about threw the model glue through the window

I like Apaches and hinds. They're almoust identical in preformance (in the game). The only three things better on apache are its targeting, missle power and this chopper is more easy to turn. They only three things better on Hind are troop transporting,64 rockets instead 38 and better armor.

Hey, mine too!

Was that the one where there were three campaigns, one in Afghanistan, Kazakstan, and Korea?

I found that it and its counterpart "Apache" to be quite realistic when the full realism mode was on. When it was on, the Hind was almost impossible to fly, the Apache was quite easy in comparison. Quite fun games they were.

Yep, that's the one. Flawless presentation, incredibly challenging flight model, good selection of weaponry, varied and interesting missions. The Hind is very versatile; I remember hot extraction/insertion missions, free-fall bombing, minelaying "terrorist" villages. Quite disturbing that last one, actually.

And infantry. Loads and loads of infantry. Fighting the mujaheddin in Afghanistan was quite a change from killing tanks in Korea. Can't remember any other early flight sims where infantry played such a large part.

I loved Hind. Had an amazing flight model for it's time and the ammount of ground units is still amazing. Shame Hind 95 doens't work too well under 98 ME, no sound and USB doesn't work . Maybe I could get the dos version to run using dosemu under linux..hmmm

I sure wish someone.. ANYONE would come out with a good chopper sim.. the EECH series is the closest thing to a *good* chopper sime out.. and even its showing its age.. there is a big gap that needs to be filled in the combat helicopter SIM area,, and commanche 4 doesen count.. that game is a DISGRACE!
