Thread: ZOMBIES FOR XBOX OPFE?

  1. #21

    Post

Imagine a form of OFP or ArmA for the Wii.
Really doubt it would happen but that would be truely outstanding.

And with these zombie mods...do they only die with a shot to the head? Because, you know, they should. Body shots should stager and slow them down a little but not result in a kill. In that vid it kinda looked like they were going down from body hits.

Stop dreaming about Zombies from BIS for ANY of their games!

It's totally unrealistc and will never happen! Only way you'll ever get zombies on elite is if you toy with the zombie mods for OFP PC and try to implement them into elite.

Then again the easiest thing to do would be to pay something like $15 for OFP on the PC and you're golden. And you don't need an uber computer to run it!!! 400Mhz computers can run OFP with 16mb gfx!!!!

I will definitely buy a Xbox 360 when AA will be published for it - just for this game alone!

The next console will be a Wii ***
Possible on late 2007 or early 2008. Long time....to wait.. or maybe the game never came for 360.

The more i think about it the more i'm convinced a ArmA/360 WILL HAPPEN. For the simple reason that in the end BIS is a game maker, they want to sell games (and make a profit)

Now suppose ArmA/PC is released Q4 2006 and Game2 is slated for Q4 2008, what will BIS do in the mean time? Especially if ArmA/PC sells less well than expected. BIS just has to go for the OBVIOUS ArmA/360 route.

They have the game in place ArmA, they have the console experience (XBL, Controller) and they don't have to worry about virus/security etc. And 360 offers exactly the power and hd needed for a true flashpoint next-gen experience:) (I would like to see TRackIR happen for 360)

Imho, BIS can't afford to let slip this opportunity. I'm sure they will break even, but perhaps it could end up as a surprise hit on 360. We all know that xbox is foremost a console shooter platform ... THE (console) platform for Arma to show up.

Doesn't matter to me. I will buy a 360 when it's cheaper OR immediately when AA comes out for it. I am not after more and more graphic power without innovation in gameplay - and all these next gen consoles bring me just that: better graphics (which I can't see anyway, because i don't have a HDTV). The Wii is NEW generation and therefore gives me exactly what I always wanted - a new way to play videogames.

The zombies I made are killed by shots to the body, yes. I know, it's cack but I am limited by the game engine. I also wanted 1000 zombies in the map at once but couldn't.

At the time, I didn't have the skill or inclination to make the zombies die with headshots only - there IS an entry in the o2 editor that you can set, for where the AI should target, on a model, ie: head, but it's in Czech!

Secondly, if the AI keep on targetting the head, 9 times out of 10, they'll probably miss! And therefore be useless defending a base.

I really hope (this is hope #99) that ARMA's limbs in their models are all in English....

Allright, I'm compelled to reply here and then I'm gonna drop it.

    1. BIS must release ArmA for XBOX360 to save us all from a dearth of boring games.

    2. "Grimnirsson" stated the fundamental problem so concisely it requires recognition:

"I am not after more and more graphic power without innovation in gameplay"

This is exactly the problem killing the XBOX360! MS and the developers need to wake up and heed these words!

And exactly why can't BIS put zombies in their games? Certinly not from a lack of imagination or skill in programming! If I remeber right, BIS once said that they didn't just want to make war games. Perhaps the "survival-horror" genre is something they might be interested in investigating?

    AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY!

The only reason I consider ArmA/360 unlikey is the trouble with distribution and publishing that they are having. Heck, atm as long as you live in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic or have an internet (online distribution has been considered) you'll be able to buy Arma for the PC. So if they end up not being able to secure publishers for many countries. Imagine the trouble they might have with the 360, especially without the option of online distribution.

Im not knocking the idea at all. Heck, ArmA/360 = more money for BIS = Better games in the future. Whos against that. Its just mearly stating the other sides of the arguement. Bearing in mind it will cost BIS to convert to 360, if they dont get a good enough return on it there goes quite a lot of the money which can be invested in other things, I dont know like a specific team for console Game for Game 2 or sumut, especially if Game 2 is stated for 2008, Arma/360 would be out at around the same time, would you prefer Game 2 done right for the 360 possibly instead of a half arsed slapped together ArmA.

All up to the "man" at BIS though i suppose. Either way, I support them in every endevour.

Concerning the zombies, its unlikely guys. This is BIS, renowned for their military sim technology. Zombies is almost at the other end of their genre. Most likely would require a completely new engine to be developed, and it took many a years for Posiden (OFP engine) to be dev'd up. I doubt BIS its self would do it.

And back to Zombies for OFP:E, downloadable content, Codemasters responsablity and there for very very unlikely youd get anything from them. Have to be communitied.

Just get the PC OFP. I used to play OFP:E on xbox, but then my xbox broke down. And my PC is crap. It barley runs. Yet its plays OFP:GOTY.

Its has shitloads of addons, like SWAT, Zombies, ect.

Its got crappy graphics but most of the newer mods surpass the OFP:E graphics.

    Ummm ...

    weekly UK chart summary
    Entertainment Software (Full Price)
    Week ending 09 Sep 2006

    1. Dead Rising
    2. Saints Row
    3. LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
    4. Test Drive: Unlimited
    5. Disney Presents a PIXAR film: Cars
    6. New Super Mario Bros.
    7. Gangs of London
    8. The Sims 2

    source

    ...

1 to 4 are 360 titles ... on 8 there is a pc title. Now, both Wii and PS3 will come out so probably again big difficulties for pc.

Perhaps pc is a 'better' platform for ArmA but looking at sales the 360 (as a trad. strong fps console platform) seems to me very interesting.

(my) message: Don't underestimate M$, they are here (consoles) to stay for a loooong time:) Just jump on the bandwagon
