Thread: Can't see ammo type and quantity on vehicles

1. #1
In some user maps(not sure if it sometimes does this on BIS maps..), I get in tanks and cannot see what sort of ammo I have selected, or how much of it I have. Why is this?

Try removing unofficial addons. Ie. Gunslingers Editor Upgrade causes things like this.

Aye, of course Kegetys has also posted several times NOT to use the object file addons.

Oh there actually is a solution (at least for me and several others) to Gunslingers and many other addons causing the ammo counter to dissappear.

1. Save your addon folder and User folder to another directory
2. Completely uninstall OFP
3. Install base OFP from disk 1.0, 1.2 etc.
4. DO NOT INSTALL PATCHES YET!
5. Move the CONTENTS of your saved addon folder to the
new addon folder (DO NOT overwrite any files already
there)
6. Move your User folder into main OFP directory and
overwrite new one.
7. NOW begin patching up to current OFP version.

I have found thru experimentation that on some systems installation of addons after patching can cause the ammo counter to dissappear. The above process may solve this problem for you and allow use of the addon without this annoying bug. But if it doesn't work your last course of action is to remove the unofficial addons.

BTW, this thread belongs in Troubleshooting next time eh

Yeh, it's called FADE.

You don't need to uninstall, then reinstall OPF to get rid of FADE.
Just delete ALL unofficial addons, then run OPF with only official stuff. Now the FADE is gone.

People always think that they need to uninstall OPF to get rid of FADE.
FADE doesn't act like a virus.

And unofficial addons always cause problems if there are a lot of them. Even if they're named with tags, they can still interfer with other addons or the Config.BIN.

Actually the unofficial addons have nothing to do with fade... The problems occur when an addon does something wrong, ie. defines classes in a different tree than in what they are in the main config.bin. As long as everything is done like they are supposed to, you (should) be able to have as many unofficial/official addons that you wish without any problems.

Quite many unofficial addons out there define classes wrong, including some old addons by me (Which includes the objects addons). The problems might not occure immediately when you install an addon that does stuff wrong, it might apper after you install some other addon, you never know...

FADE only kicks in if you tamper with .exe right?

And the ammoclass missing shouldn't pose that much of a problem once you get to know your tank...
You certainly know which weapon you are firing, and you'll get a feel for the amount of ammo you use.

I was not discussing FADE or anything in its liking, this issue is not caused by FADE it is caused by reasons that Kegetys has described to you. I am mearly illustrating a way I have found to make the dissappearing ammo counter be resolved for some systems with the addons in place.

Please read and comprehend the material next time.

Red face

I had same prob, ended up being an unofficial addon with a incorrect weapon association. Kegetys has hit the nail on the head, this is not caused by FADE.
Cheers
