Armed Assault and OFP 2?

Well let me start off saying I love OFP to this day. I have all the latest hardware and all the latest FPS games, but OFP is still the best.
It has been a long wait for OFP2. I rememeber last year when it was supposed to be released, then was delayed.
It seems there was a dispute between codemasters and bohemia studios and this was the cause of the delay.
And from what I have gathered from searching is that OFP2 is coming but under the name Armed Assualt now. It seems codemasters owns the rights to the flashpoint name but BIS owns the game itself(engine) so without codemasters publishing it it had to be renamed. So really this Armed Assault is REALLY the OFP2 we have been waiting for..right? And even if codemasters comes up with their own OFP2 it will have the name, but wont really be the original part 2 intended to be released. It prolly wont even even be that similar to the real 1st one.
If you go to the official OFP2 site its been shutdown.
So is this Armed Assualt really OFP2 like I figured, but just a new name?
Is it based off the VBS2 or VBS1?
Can anyone explain this to me. I just want the new game to come out.....soon I hope...we need the updated engine sooo bad.

ArmA is NOT Ofp2. The "Next Generation PC Game", or BIS's game without a name (also known as game2) is the true OFP2, but since Codemaster is no longer publishing for BIS at this time, it can't be called Flashpoint2.

Armed Assult is basiclly going to be the old Flashpopint, with many upgrades and changes to the engine. They are adding in improvements from the Xbox version, and even VBS. As well as some other improvements.

Go to the NGPCG board and look a bit, there are several post that explain this in good detail. There is also an article around here that explains it better... just do a little searching.

And OFP2 was never really schedualed for release last year. At E3 this year, it was said the game is only about 30% compleat... so there was never any chance in hell of it coming out last year or even this year and probly next year.

I appreciate you're new here but your question could be answered by taking the time to look around, search, read some threads, or even to ask it in an existing thread, another new thread asking the same old question isn't really necessary

Ok ....sorry.....I have looked around a bit but wasnt sure. It wasnt until after i posted that I realised there were other post similiar to mine, thanks anyway though. And I will try to search more in the future.

lol don't worry mate, we're a freindly bunch around here. Settle in and get used to doing lots of reading, because right now there is LOADS of new information coming up about ArmA and Game2 from all sorts of places...
