Did you CiA guys ever think about updating this?

I'm on a satellite connection. I did a little more research last night and it seems a little gloom. Basically on a satellite no matter how fast your connection you will always have at least a half second delay as that's how long it takes for the signal to travel to space and bounce back from the satellite.

***I always knew satellites were no good for gaming, I just got kind of optimistic after I tried that test and saw I had what seemed to be a good download and upload speed.

***I'll give it a shot though, if nothing else I can play a medic or be a pack mule for ammo. I need to download FDF 1.4 and the teamspeak program as I only have FDF 1.3 and the desert addon. So I wont be able to test it until tommorow I don't think.
Satellite isn't good at all I'm afraid. First of all you need to have a sufficiant ping and once you have that the bandwidth matters. Of course you're allowed to join and try it out but it won't be very pleasant with a 1 sec delay.

Had I've been you I would have looked for alternative connections and change as soon as possible. Online gaming is worth it.

I guess we might update it but it's not my first priority.
    I hate it

@Devil (now I know how you got that name ): Ok, thx.

@Sputnik: Maybe you'll become the new king of the pings

After some weeks I browse through the thread and see Besen being banned. D'oh.
I'll probably join some games in the near future.

    Thumbs up

I use this as my standard modem test page: http://homepage.eircom.net/~leslie/testpage.htm (I get around 653200 bps, or 653 kbps)

My ping is sually around the 360 mark when I'm on the CiA server (since I'm on the other side of the planet to most others), but I rarely get any more lag or problems than anyone else.

In fact, I get a lot less disconnects than many others. So it isn't just purely connection speed, it's also about the reliability of the ISP connection.

It's also not a good idea to have other programs running that suck up bandwidth, especially things like file sharing programs.

But the best idea is just to stop by for a game, and see how it handles.

    Here it is: ***

In The beginning there was nothing, and there was real much of it. In fact there was nothing ***else than nothing. So nothing declared itself for the King of nothing. And it was good. Then Nothing discovered there was something else than himself. It was Time. And so Nothing got bored. "There´s got ***to be more than this" the King thought. He had a look around but he only saw nothing. So he took a bit of it and he pressed it and pulled it and, hey, it started to glow and it made odd colors just like the intelligent fogs in starship enterprise! And King Nothing took real much of nothing and pressed it real rough and.... KABLOOEYY it made and a nice Flashpoint showed up and then it was all dark. "Ugh, it´s pretty dark now" Nothing recognized, and "Let there be light", he said too, and see, there was light. "Oooh, what a mess"; said the King as he saw all the pieces of the new born glaxy flying through the space. "This will sure take quite a while to clean up" assumed the King, and so he spoke: "Let there be rock" and see, there was Hardrock, and it was good. Hardrock was a nice guy with long hairs and blue trousers with holes in it, and he played his guitar like the Devil, just to please and entertain the King. He played real loud and it didn´t take long and it knocked at the door. The King opened the door and what he saw made him grinnig, because this was starting to get a real good party. "Who are you guys?" he asked. "Well" said the Devil, "I´m living right beneath you and i heard this noise you know, and i thought i should have a look whats this all about. And by the way: Have you got any snus here?". "Come in", said the King, "and who´s this guy right behind you?" "It´s Saint Bals from up above. An old friend of mine. He really knows how to party." "Hi Dear", the Saint said, "where could i put this box of Wittmann beer?" He had a look at Hardrock and said: "Holy shit, this guy swings his guitar just like the Reaper! Let´s get into this!" And as he said this words, it was suddenly getting dark and very quiet. "Shit" said the Devil, "the fuse!". Saint Bals made his inner glow a bit brighter and calmly he said: "This is a case for Antidote Radnik!" And instantly he gave him a telepathic ring, and in the background they could hear the Reaper doing a lovely unplugged jamsession. After just a few minutes they heared someone knocking at the backdoor. "Hey,"; Radnik said "I was just waiting for an armed assault around here and suddenly i thought i could ask you for any news." As he looked into the darkness he added: "By the way, i have here a little fuse. Maybe you can need this one?" The Saint and Radnik went down the stairs and had a look for the broken fuse in the cellar. As they arrived down under they heared something moving in the dark corner. "Quick, fix the fuse and turn on the lights again" said Bals. Radnik did so and as the lights (and noise from up above) started working again, they starred into the corner. "Oh my gosh," whisperd the Antidote "this one looks really F.u.b.a.r.!" "Errr" it made out of the corner, "sorry Mates can you please help me? I´m just on my way back home to Sidney, but I´m completely lost!" "Sure" the Saint replied, "just fall back into formation, i´ll lead u the way!" He pressed the 8 and 1 key and in a nice column they went up the stairs. After that they decided to bring a little more life to the party and they ordered Tony´s Girlsclub for some private dance show, and gave a ring to the next Pizza Service for some extra tasty food. It just took a few moments for them to arrive (as the time axis was still quite relative just right after the Big Bang) and the Post - Man brought them excellent food with some nice weed for dessert. Tonys girls were dancing all night long and they all had a very good time together. As sun rised up int the morning, things went really laggy for some reason. "Perkele" the Devil said, "we have got to restart the server!" "What a shame" Bals replied, "next time we got to make sure Lobanak is here too!" "Anywayssss", Post said and puffed out some smoke, "wasn´t King asking for some Nickname last night?" All looked at the King, who was lying beneath the table snorring. "He looks a bit pale" someone said. "Yeah, thats good. What about calling him `PALE KING NOTHING´?

Originally it was only for internal use, but since u asked for it... ;-)

    Greetings

    *** ***T. M.

    Haha, thanks a lot!

I'll try to be on a bit earlier tonight...

I have almost everything needed so far to join tonight save for Team Speak and FDF 1.4. When I click on the teamspeak download link in the first post of this thread it seems to be a dead link.

As for FDF 1.4, A friend of mine is downloading it for me on a univeristy computer, I may or may not have it by tonight.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm afraid you can't do much without FDF (and no, I don't mean just on the server; you actually can't do much with life in general without FDF).

As for TS, they seem to have moved the site, here is the new link:

    Teamspeak 2

    Proud Comrade of CiA!

Ok I have team speak, FDF1.3, FDF desert addon and teamspeak. I just got off the phone and it looks like I'll have FDF 1.4 and winter maldevic delivered in about 2 hours. I also have the UZI fix sorted out, is there anything else left that I need?

    Two questions though...

    1. I have Team Speak working and I was able to connect to the CIA server. I don't have a mic, will that be a problem?

    2. Is it alright if I have Sanctuary's Nextgen animations and pistol animations installed?
