Can anyone tell me whats the advantage of using 3d max to model the terrain:

? possibility to model the terrain witouth being limited by the greed (there´s no 50x50 or 25 x 25, simply u give height/model where u want) ?

By the way u know where can i get very zoomed DEM´s for free
