As you can see the pattern is basically the same. Only the colors have changed.

Now the question, how did the author manage to turn the green into blue? How did he readjust the values, etc.?

Please show me how to do it in GIMP.

I do not know about GIMP, but in Photoshop you can do that by changing the Hue/Saturation of the image.

2. magic wand tool (proper setup) and fill in

Ever thought about "Layers",

Tried changing the saturation but all i got was a blurred blue version of that green camo. The quality of the image degraded.
