My computer seems to be running really slow recently. It isnt even a year old and ive already deleted several GBs worth of things and defragged it done disk checks and things like that.

Anyone know of anything else I could do to make it run better? (without going out and buying new things for it)

if u are running Windows XP i suggest u go here to TweakXP or some similar site and neutralize half of the useless XP features that Micro$oft graciously forced upon us

    Remember, money = performance.

I'd reccomend a new CPU fan and new thermal grease, which'll cost you in the reigon of $30.

For free, though, I'd reccomend opening your box up and giving everything a nice cleaning, especially to clear out any dust on metal contacts or dust that's blocking airflow through the case.

First things first, check what is using up your CPU power, check waht programs and then what services are running (if it's XP). TweakXP can obviously help with all this.

A fan and grease, well that's ok if you over clock, but it doesn't give you performance boosts heh

next I guess you can check drivers and conflicts etc...

If the CPU's running too hot it would munch up CPU speed, it's always good to be sure
