I have plans to go into the Navy and i was wondering if anybody here would know which paticular fields would pay the most for reinlisting. I heard anybody in weilding would get as much as 40G for reinlisting.

The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement.
But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth.

I heard being a captain or being one of the Joint Cheifs would be pretty well paid![]()
I'm sure that they'd have this kind of info on the navys web site. If they don't, then their not trying hard enough to gain new recruits.
I know I shouldn't encourage such behaivour, but it's drunken comedy gold.

anyway i was kinda hoping there would be some people here who would have or still are serving in the navy. I want to go but i don't know what kinda profesion i wana get into. my dad served aboard the ballistic missle subs, but even today subs are still crowed and he would tell the boats he was stationed on were so crowed he would often end up sleeping right next to the missle silos housing nuclear weapons, so the thougt of me having to sleep right ontop or even worse below a 2 ton torpedo doesn't really appeal to me. my older sister is suggesting i go into aircraft maintance but i would like to hear from any users who had different fields that they enjoyed.
IIRC, schoeler was in navy.
Please read Forum Rules
Had a buddy who served in the Engineering crew of an SSN (LA class). IIRC, most of hte technical fields (difficult like Sonar, Nuclear Engineering, etc) have good bonuses (or did at his time of enlistment, ~4 years ago), also in all branches, anything to do with human services is in short supply. As of my last look, Cooks in the Army were eligible for a $16,000, and musicians (marching bands, etc) $22,000 sign up bonus, for a 5 or 6 year enlistment. And, the Navy/Marines almost ALWAYS have higher enlistment bonuses than the Army, as they are budgeted nearly twice as much as the Army for the bonus payouts (on a per recruit basis). (at least according to the most recent DoD report on it I read.. and no, I am not involved in it.. it was public record.)
Best way to find out is do some poking around online. Look up current US Navy enlistment/re-enlistment bonuses. Every branch seems to pay every MOS a re-enlistment bonus, but some fields give you tens of thousands, some give you a couple thousand. Cooks are high, because how many people you know join the military to be a cook? They need em, but few think of doing it. Throw a nice stack of cash though, and suddenly being a mechanic, or driver doesn't seem as great as making eggs and bread!
I served for six years in the Navy and Naval Reserves as an aerographer's mate. I was basically a weatherman and oceanographer for the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command. It wasn't a bad gig, though the A-School was long and at times, difficult. Check it out if you have a high ASVAB score. Anything else you want to know, just ask.
