What about a SWAT 2 type control system as well....where you could for example, press a Function key for the player, press a key for like "Breach door", put your crosshair on door and click.
I liked the way how in SWAT3 they used the crosshairs of the gun to direct actions.
After directing this action you could default to a hand signal that gets played as well....so in MP somone would understand.
I think handsignals have lots of value in MP IF..and only IF...they can be accessed quickly and convey more info than typing in a radio command.
For example pressing Shift-H for a hold command. Shift-E for enemy sighted. Shift L for flank left. Shift A for advacne, Shift C for cover me as I advance....etc.
Perhaps if the commader could easily enter a Stealth mode vs. normal mode. Normal mode is voices as suggested before. Stealth mode is only hand signals.

Well, if you have a voice recognition you can play your character without deconcentrating you. Because most time when I want to give an order I have to look to the keyboard to press the right numbers, these are some seconds you can't afford in the middle of the battle.Originally Posted by (dkraver @ May 02 2003,10:07)

Good idea. I hope that they'd implement atleast part of what you suggested.
One thing I keep forgetting to post until now was that
the disconnect button in MP games should not move to where the 'ready' button was! SO MANY people disconnect from servers because of it I kept forgetting because I don't ever press ready unless I'm admin, but it catches a lot of people. Also pressing enter (as in when you are chatting) can sometimes disconnect you from MP games when loading maps / in briefing
Banned.
That was fixed in resistance wasnt it?

Apparently not. A lot of people still accidentally disconnect.
Please make a way for editors to loop action music during firefight sequences then have it die down when the action stops, or switch to a new song like swat 3's music system.
What about a quick menu where there are the more popular firefight commands. If there is a hot key then when you point at the soldier (or select them by other means) press the hotkey for a semi-transparent command menu which the mouse operates. If each command is part of a wheel shaped menu around the pointer and activated when a segment is highlighted it would be quickest. I am pretty sure I have seen other games use this. maybe a movement hotkey, attack hotkey and action hotkey to activate different menus.
By the time you hear the bullet I've already missed.
For attacking purposes I think maybe the option for attacking units in a general area. ie. select the soldier/s, command to attack and then click in a direction and they will automatically start attempting to eliminate units nearest that point. Maybe holding the mousebutton down longer in a certain direction would increase the arc of units to attack.
If not then above then maybe being able to mass select the enemy by drawing a box around the units you wish your troops to attack so as to suppress the enemy troops as well as kill them. You can already draw a box around squadmembers you wish to select whilst in command mode so this must be possible.
