Lobanak 0 Posted March 4, 2003 I just installed my linux box at home with the new gentoo 1.4 rc3. Now I don't have a chance to start the linux server. Always the same (tested with 1.90 and 1.91 pure fresh installation) and with 1.90d and 1.90f server version): </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> gate ofp # sh server-1.90d.shar Operation Flashpoint Resistance dedicated server 1.90d x - creating lock directory x - extracting server (binary) x - extracting tolower.c (binary) Converting OFP directory: 1 file-names were converted gate ofp # ./server 20:51:44 Dedicated server created Server creation failed : 2302 20:52:10 Dedicated server finished (SIGINT signal) gate ofp # pwd /opt/ofp gate ofp # df Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hda3 3.0G 1.2G 1.7G 43% /opt <span id='postcolor'> System-Info: Intel Celeron 800 MHz 512 MB SDRAM (Infineon) DFI Flex-ATX Board DW27-EA 40 GB IBM HD 30 GB IBM HD system: gentoo linux 1.4 rc3 (compiled from scratch, optimized with march=i686) filesystem: ext3 OnBoard LAN + Realtek 8029 NIC Additional Software: Apache 1.3.27, MySQL 3.23.54a, XFree 4.2.1, Fluxbox 0.1.14, Pure-FTPd, Bind 9.2.2-rc1 On a normal RedHat 8.0 installation on the same system all was working fine. Could it be the new gcc-3.2.2? uudecode and uuencode are installed (sharutils-4.2.1). I have no entries about system errors in the log-files. All is normal like ever. On gentoo 1.4 rc2 all was working (my real server which crashed (harddisks) on transport to hosting center, but different hardware). Someone have ideas about that? benu 1 Posted March 5, 2003 You coould search the board for your error message. Iirc this error message appeared on some computers and not one of the people who got it found a solution for it. The same installation worked on a different computer though
Lobanak 0 Posted March 5, 2003 ha... I found the solution by myself. I had another IP then in the hosts file and the DNS server for my box, cause had running another one as backup box till this box is ready again. So if you get the error, be sure to have the same IP with ifconfig like in the hosts file for your linux box.
