Cd rom is making noise

Hi,

I just bought the resistance Cd a week ago and I'm hearing a noise coming from the CD drive. When I click "start" on the game window, it starts making a vibarating type of noise. And it only does it with this one CD. First time I've never heard it. Could you please tell me what this may be? And yes, I'm new with computers and this is the first time I've heard this type of noise.

I also did a search on the forum for CD rom and noise, and didn't come up with anything of this sort. If you would please answer this question i'd appreciate it much.

i also have same problem, but found no solution. CM can't help you on this one either...guess you just have to live with it.

I guess your CD-ROM Drives are faster than 32x, right?

If that`s the case there`s a german tool to slow down your drive, that makes it more silent. I use that when watching DVDs for example. I can give you the link, but it`s german software:
CD-Bremse (CD-brake)

I never had problems with it, but use it at your own risk.

The disk seems to look ok. Maybe I'll go back and exchange it for another one. Ralph, if your having the same problem, maybe there was a flaw during production on a few of them, who knows.

Yes I've got a 56k. And I think CM should keep note of this.

With high-speed drives, the sometimes uneven silkscreening on CDs can cause enough imbalance and vibration to cause the CD to disintegrate. It would also cause a lot of noise...

once i had the CD drive blow up with a cd in it so watch out

wierd. i already exchanged the CD from EB the day after it came out to US. and still have same prob.

and to make things a lot more fun, my CD drive is 5 years old.(bought it in january of 1998). speed is 32x or less.

I don&#39;t personally know anyone to whom this happened, but there are reports of this all over the &#39;net. And yes, drives have been destroyed that way.

I would definitely try the CD Bremse (CD Brake) mentioned earlier.
