So Tex, Hit_Sqd_Maximus and I got together ***on HL to play a bit of FB the other night, and Tex and I had some awesome dogfights. We did some Yak-3 vs. Yak-3, and then early-war Lagg-3 vs bf-109F-4. I've got a few select tracks from that event, as well as some screenies for those here without the game. One thing we neglected to do was go at it both in German AC, after all, Tex took me on in my baby. Perhaps next time .

Warning - these tracks might have caused a computer crash
...so you be careful if you use BadgerBoy's exact Motherboard/Sound card configuration mmmmkay?

The first fight...not very long ***

    Another Yak vs. Yak engagement

8 minute dogfight Great fight! I realized I had to bite the dust after botching a low speed maneuver at low alt, after trying unsucsessfully to shake Tex for a few minutes. Unfortunately he fell victim to target fixation and followed me in.

High deflection Rocket Kill! Looks really cool on 1/4 time and externals .

    middair with a winner

And now the screenies for those who haven't the sense to buy this great game ***

Tex puts some holes into me early on

but I manage to turn it around

"Any landing you can walk away from..."

    "Fox 2!"

A rocket does nasty things to an airframe...

The luckiest man in the Luftwaffe, I was baffled by the fact that that he survived that blast.

    "Strange...my wing wasn't green...."

As luck would have it, Tex's wing slices through mine and he emerges unscathed!

If Il-2 were a drug there'd be a law against it, cuz it's so much fun

And Tov, wait till I can dogfight you above 2000 meters- thats where the F4 really shines. As you saw, it's a little anemic at low altitudes. Great fun though

I know, you have to drag me up though, if you're willing to engage me at low alt, I'd be dumb not to take that advantage . You should have done a bit more rolling when on the evasive too, the La family's common Achille's heel is their roll rate. Next time I'll try a bf109F-4 against you, should be interesting.

I was kind of surprised at how well the Lagg performed last night (after putting so many to death in singleplayer), so I put myself in a quick mission against an ace Lagg-3. I noticed that at low altitudes, it could turn better than my F4, but the F4 can outclimb it. So, after fighting for my life for about 3 minutes at low levels, I decided to take her up to altitude. Anywhere above 2000, the F4 bends the Lagg over and spanks it lol. Did I mention how much I love the F4? heh. Anyhow, the only other 109 I really love is the Karl- you want to talk about a climbrate. Jesus! Turn on that MW50 and it climbs like a homesick angel. Boom and zoom fun in a sleek and beautiful package with large caliber machine guns and a mk108 cannon...

I guess saying that I love Il2FB yet another time in this thread would be a bit excessive, but... I love this game!

It's all in how you use it. A common interpretation of the acronym LaGG among pilots was 'Lakirovannii Garantirovannii Grob' ('Varnished Guaranteed Coffin&#39. The rollrate as I've mentioned sucked, the engine was somewhat underpowered and could not go too long on 100% power without overheating, so you constantly have to be working the radiator and throttle settings...but then I didn't notice that much last night...I think it might have been the fact that you had complex engine management disabled. Down low it's a great fighter though, good turn rate, decent instantaneous climb rate, good speed, and very durable. In the Forgotten Wars, this baby excels at escorting IL-2's. No need to go high, and the ability to carry rockets means they can even lend a hand in ground pounding.

Its just a shame there aren`t as many dedicated servers for fogotten battles as IL-2 had all the other ones are usually hosted on some guys pcs

Oh and i kill u all with the JU-87G-1 :P

It's almost depressing reading about your flying accounts, because I'm such a bad pilot Your here talking about all these fancy manouveres and all these great kills you get, but unless I make the game unrealistic I cannot rival them. As it is, I haven't played FB for weeks. I'm waiting for the patch I tell myself...
But I'll crank it up to watch the tracks posted so I can watch some good tangles between Tex and Tov(arish). You never know, I might learn something.

Ah Tex, a lover of the F4 I see. You'll be glad to hear that Oleg is tweaking the 20mm cannons and other low calibers. No longer will you have to pour a stream of fire into the bastards to down them, and your machine guns will become more than tracers.

All they have to do now is sort out the effects of 30mm cannons on LA's, and we'll be sorted. (5 rounds should cripple a B17, yet the La's fly on! )

I reformatted and have forgot to put it back on, I haven't played it recently.

Kurtz m8, you must start out flying in the aircraft that everyone calls shit, try the Hurricane, i can still whip people's ass in that baby, it's ever so stable and brilliant for newbies to learn how to recover from spins, do tight turns at low level etc. If you try to start off flying a B109 E4 you are going to have problems, i cannot believe how many people cannot fly, they keep sticking themselves into spins and stuff. I once got myself into a dogfight with a yak3 and i was in a Hurricane, the guy had two good passes trying to strafe this blur labelled Jinef, then i led him down into the trees. I stuck out my landing gear, and to my suprise he did too, which was silly as i have more lift and was able to lift out at lower speed, he couldn't get any more lift however and ate mud. I was laughing my head off, he must have been doing 130 max when he stuck out his gear, the newbie.
