Poolpunks' Wishlist and Object Collection

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Is there a specific object you always wanted to see in ArmA to pimp up your Missions and Terrains? That adds immersion and contributes to the gameplay experience?

This is the place to place your Wishes/Suggestions.

Or even BETTER - You can contribute an object or a few objects that are either not finished or not worth being released on their own? I can include them in one of my upcoming packs (with credits for sure!). What i will (probably) have to do is to modify them, so they fit to the others (Color, Config etc.) - not before i made you a proposal, for sure.

Note: This is NOT about Vehicles, Uniforms, Weapons, Buildings or entire Terrains - For this youll have to bug other members of the community. Furthermore, im not talking about objects with an extended

functionality (For example - Like the Kestrell Windtrackers or similar) - The objects i want to collect are purely decorative elements that can "fill" up the mission area.

Hi poolpunk, I have always lamented how sterile the Arma 3 environment is, the furniture stolen by aliens (as the forum saying goes) and so on. Your request is really something very needed.

For one part, I thought that the terminal on Altis could do with some objects so that we actually think we're in an airport terminal. For instance, if you watch the first minute of this video (from MW3s Terminal map), you can see dozens of objects that would help:

Examples are suitcases, trollies, flowerpots, computer monitors, dustbins, the list goes on. Just watch the first minute and you will see what I am referring to

Excellent initiative, cheers!

Poolpunk,

First off, I love your beach objects mod. They are of exceptionally high quality and while I've been too busy in the few days since you released it, they will soon become a big part of adding realism and immersion to my missions. Thank you so much.

With that, I'm so glad you started this thread. I have a LARGE number of requests for object packs and other things I feel that Arma is missing and would add tremendously to realism and immersion.

First, please create a MEDICAL ITEMS pack. This pack would include objects like litters, stretchers, gurneys, blood refrigerators, surgical tables, etc, etc, etc. Here are a few examples of what I feel would be critical to be included in this objects pack:

1: A medical litter. This would ideally be a vehicle of some sort which would allow the wounded to be loaded onto it and carried by two other players, but failing that, just simply having a placeable object in Zeus or as a normal mission object would be incredible.

military_litter.jpg

2: A blood refrigerator. This would be amazing to put in all of the medical cargo houses and hospitals to add to immersion. Ideally, this would also be a container that would allow for players to grab blood/saline bags out of them.

http://spacecode.com/healthcare/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2014/02/V4120-SmartFridge1.jpg (104 kB)

3: A surgical instruments table: Also to add immersion to surgical rooms/tents and would also ideally be a container so that medics working on a patient could grab tools/supplies from the table while working on patients.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/be/Surgical_instruments_15.jpg (971 kB)

4: A Stretcher. This would be inside of a medical tent/surgical room or inside of the hospital. If you could make a few different versions of it, maybe one with someone sleeping, one with a bodybag on top, one that's empty but covered in blood, one that's got clean sheets on it, etc.

http://www.hamptonrd.com/images/Pedigo/Stretcher/511%20Stretcher.jpg (2831 kB)

5: An IV stand with lots of monitors and bags of medicine/saline hooked up to it.

https://jennaclanger.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/dsc013151.jpg (4300 kB)

6: A proper medical backpack, especially one that could possibly "deploy" and open up to see all of the cool gear inside of it:

maxresdefault.jpg

http://www.first-spear.com/images/D/FS_MedPack_9061%20copy.jpg (605 kB)

7: Lots of individual medical gear: Sterile Glove Boxes, Sterile Bandages, Splits, Wraps, Defibrillators, on and on and on, anything you can think of. Especially having clean and bloody versions of each would be AWESOME. If you can think of it, put it in there!

1010_1.jpg

Ok, that's all I have for now. I'm sure I'll come up with a new idea soon. :) Again. thank you SO MUCH for doing these kinds of object packs. They are truly truly amazing and very much needed in the Arma 3 community.

Hey Poolpunk,

I am working on a Rainbow Six themed mod.

Would be great if you could model the following:

Police / SWAT Privacy screen (stops snooping News crews)

Some themed Police / SWAT barricades

Thanks Wansec! I really hope Poolpunk is able to do a medical items pack. I think its a part of the game that's really being neglected for the most part.

Ok, now that my first request has had some time to sink in, how about a second one:

I would like to see a LOGISTICS ITEMS pack. As you've stated on your blog, you already have a number of boxes/containers made, and these items would be in addition to those. Here are examples of what I feel would be critical to include:

1: A forklift. Ideally, this would be a drive able vehicle rather than just an object, but even the object would add a lot of immersion. Perhaps it could come in multiple different colors as well.

Forklift-Truck.jpg

2: A military forklift. Again, ideally this would be a drive able vehicle rather than just an object, but this is intended for outdoor/military use. It would be great if these would come in different camo styles, and also perhaps even a version with an armored cab to protect against small arms fire and shrapnel.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2197/2270309053_5ee4d098ba_o.jpg (5496 kB)

2a: Piggybacking on the above, a military bulldozer would be amazing. I know there's already a BLUFOR dozer, but it is sorely lacking. Having an armored military bulldozer could open up a lot of missions, especially for those of us who like to play with modern-day weapons.

http://www.army-technology.com/projects/7054/images/141414/large/3-image.jpg (110 kB)

3: Containers, containers, containers. Anything you can think of really, below are a list of ideas. Ideally, most, if not all of these objects would be full Arma-compatible containers to allow for the use of airdrops or actual logistics usage.

Individual and palatalized stacks of Pelican cases:

pelican-case.jpg

MobileMaster.jpg

Really, just palatalized everything. If you can think of it, put it on a military pallet and put a cargo net on top of it.

Seabags/Gear:

http://northiowatoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/1050015.jpg (314 kB)

Cardboard Boxes:

http://militaryaircraft-airbusds.com/portals/0/Images/Missions/Military/Transport/Pallets01.jpg (198 kB)

MREs, MREs, MREs!

463l-image05.jpg

Water Bottles:

size0.jpg

Truck Tires:

081009-R-FR000-003.JPG

You really can't go wrong with almost anything you can think of.

4: Trailers: Ideally this would be tow-able, but folks may need to use a 3rd party like R3F's Logistics Script (which is amazing btw) to make towing work.

military_products_16_trailer_635nl.jpg

cargo_trailer_ltt-l.jpg

standard.jpg

Ok that's all I can think of for now. I'm sure more will come to mind later, at which point I will edit this post or add a new post. Thanks again Poolpunk!

Just some ideas popping into my mind.

-Military grave markers

-Coffins, civilian and military type

-Body bags (both closed and half open, with military & civilian casualties inside)

-Bar items, ie. bottles, shakers, glasses, ash trays, decorative lights, disco balls, juke box, video games, pinball machines etc.

-Generic furniture, ie. Ikea style

-Designer furniture

-Museum items, ie. sarcophagi, amphora, dinosaur bones, masks, odd statues, big stone heads, impressive looking leatherbound books, rusty ancient weapons.

-Wrecked, rusty machinery and other industrial junk

@Old_Painless

Most of the objects you mentioned exist already, Some are in WIP - Ive added a brushed metal trash bin to the list, as sth like that was missing. Thanks for the hint.

@DR Death JM

Sorry, only decorative objects in here.

@Kelgram

Cool idea - Sth. like that fits quite well to the objects already in the City Pack.

(For example Barrier Tape and these big plastic Cones with lights on top ...)

@Vernei

Great example pics - i always wondered what some of these items were actually named. :)

At first i thought of having medical items in a own category in the interiors pack,

but after your input i decided to create a standalone pack with some items more.

It will also make the Interiors Pack lower weight.

As for your second post - Thought about forklifts, too already, but too complex for the

moment. Perhaps at a later stage. The same is true for the Trailers.

Pelican Case is the name for these "Hardcase"-Boxes? Cool. Several types (Flat, Big, Small,

Closed, Open) are nearly finished already, but need to get a cool texture, yet.

Its probably a good idea to have each of them in different sizes - Thanks for that.

MREs and MRE-Cartons are already existent - Should be not too time-consuming to make

palletized versions - Maybe not in the first version of the Containers-Pack.

If there's sth. to eat there must be sth. to drink, too, yeah.

@NeoArmageddon

You mean sth. like the Hidden-Selection-Signs someone released for ArmA?

Where you could setObjectTexture your own Sign-Versions?

I do have Skis, Slope Markers and Guiding-Cords already, but currently dont know

if these few items are worth to be released on their own. It would be cool to

have Skidoos, but this is also too complex for the moment.

@Theoretic

Anonymous, military Gravestones and coffins in several versions are a great idea! Noted.

Body Bags do already exist in several versions and will be part of a later pack.

Generic bar items and decoration is existent already - As for the "Disco Objects" -

This seems too special for the moment, but Pinball Machines .. are cool. :)

Generic furniture exists already and is part of the Interiors Pack.

There is several antique and designer furniture, too.

Wrecks will maybe come later. I tend to ignore Industrial-Objects, as i

am trying to stay with Civil\Military\Governmental-Objects and leave commercial and industrial

ones out of scope for the moment.

@devilslayersbane

It would be great to have some examples of what you mean?

I cant imagine at the moment.

Bunkers would be nice - http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ND8srDmCVLg/UEgcnseZ0VI/AAAAAAAAFSg/gNPFBD8Tt1w/s1600/PillboxWithHMG.jpg

Various sizes/shapes - doesn't matter that much...I agree that there's a lack of concrete bunkers, I remember a few ones being in ArmA 2's Betons Addons, or otherwise the map of Vostok.

The military bunkers that are in ArmA 3 by default are all metal...And the concrete bunkers don't have to be in-tact necessarily, they could be ruined or damaged..

It's just to differ from the 'modern' NATO military bunkers that are in default arma 3..Make it possible for ArmA 3 to be a bit more Pre-2000 (ww2/cold war era).

Though underground bunkers would be even better - http://assets.atlasobscura.com/media/BAhbCVsHOgZmSSJGdXBsb2Fkcy9wbGFjZV9pbWFnZXMvZGVlNjlkMDIzODg5ZjRhNjFlNGQxNzViYTFlNjhiMmRjYmFlZjZlNy5qcGcGOgZFVFsIOgZwOgp0aHVtYkkiCjYwMHg+BjsGVFsHOwc6CnN0cmlwWwk7BzoMY29udmVydEkiEC1xdWFsaXR5IDkxBjsGVDA/image.jpg - It's quite impossible to properly do them in ArmA 3...I think it would be easier to stick with 'fortification'-typed bunkers, above ground.

Just an idea.

Kind regards,

Sanchez

Here's some concrete bunkers:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/99/PanoBunker.jpg

http://www.mascontext.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/10_ww2_bunkers_cover.jpg

http://www.questmasters.us/images/German_Bunker_Normandy.jpg

And some extra sandbag setups and bunkers:

http://www.build-a-rama.com/images/micro/sandbag_bunker_micro/sandbag_bunker_micro_O.jpg

http://www.timecastmodels.co.uk/range_29/29_016.jpg

I realize that the concept of a concrete bunker is one from WW2, but I still like them. More than that though, I would just like a better variety than the 3 or four bunkers we have. Also, if you don't have one already, you may see a canteen model come your way.

+1 for the defensive structures suggestion.

Something like from Iron Front for example, just with sandbags and camo nets.

Yay for fortifications!

Prop explosives (IEDs, WMD, etc) could be nice for some missions.

Thanks all for the various inputs - I definetely see what seems to be missing here and have updated my 'Lists' accordingly ;)

@Vernei: FYI - Begun work on the Hardcases you mentioned - These will make it to the Containers Pack (Probably not in the first beta)

tumblr_nopgrg8The1tlpb1bo1_1280.jpg

And in the case you missed it - Ive added a Forklift, too:

Hey, poolpunk, will you have objects that have simulation enabled so that we can knock them around? It's not something I tested when I used your packs before so I don't remember if they already do.

I thought about including moveable versions, too, but was quite unhappy with the behaviour of these when stacked or put on tables .. I found it more comfortable to have the objects stay where i put them ;)

But if there should be a higher demand to have non-static objects, i might think about that again.

I would kinda like that, as a lot of objects, such as the forklift, I feel would benefit from simulation. It makes no sense when a house gets hit with a large round but everything that's placed inside isn't touched.

Ha, that's cool. Do you mean to implement the forklift as a drivable vehicle? Would be real sweet to have the lift animated, perhaps controlled with the periscope up/down keys (like with the Strider's commander periscope). Perhaps one could then attach a pallet to a memory point on the fork. Just throwing some ideas out here :D. I understand if it's just a prop though, being the intention of these packs.

As for moveable objects, I think that could definitely be a nice touch.

Ive been thinking about this for awhile and now with the new towing capability that "duda" has done with his Advanced Towing I'd really like to see a boat trailer/dolly in the game...with script you could have it load and unload..Ive used the UGV to do exactly that thus you can tow the UGV with the boat on top. But a proper boat dolly would be great or even a flat bed to load ammoboxes and equipment on with a script, then implement (with his permission and maybe help) the Advanced Towing script/mod to it. I was giving this a go in 3d but am far from experienced enough for it at this time. Adding logistics like this in the game would be great.
