British 'Ridgback' PPV [WIP]

Recommended Posts

During the war...

or, for those not familiar with classic British TV comedy shows...

back in the reign of Arma2 I released a model of the British 'Ridgback' PPV (MRAP).

Well it's been a while, but here are some WIP shots of my attempt to 'tart it up a bit' for Arma3 ..

With regard to functionality ...

PhysX is in and relatively under control

basic functions like wheel/glass damage are in

Also, I'm trying to reflect the attributes that the real vehicle has

(taking into account my limited knowledge)

so, additional stuff that is in and working in varying degrees of funkyness:

1) mine resistance

2) protection against certain weapon systems

3) ability to jam detonation of remote controlled explosives

4) custom driving aids using onboard cameras

5) ability to make a nice, refreshing cup of tea

(the last one's a lie - but I might think about it!)

Thanks for the replies. Glad you like it so far!

Going to have no RPT errors from arma 2 animations ? *wink* :)

I don't understand what you're trying to tell me here I'm afraid. but just to be clear:

This is not a port of my A2 release, it's a new model ... I had hoped that would be obvious!:p

Thanks for the interest guys, glad that you liked the old version!

I am trying to make this one better but I have a nasty feeling it's a bit 'out of date'

what with all this year 202020 business and the super powerful AT weapons!

My bad . I now cannot contain my excitement.

Not at all, the fault is probably mine for making my initial post a bit vague ...

It was an attempt at 'humour' that caught me in the backblast:eek:

Btw, soldierman, am I right in thinking English is not your first language?

You have a talent for making all your replies read like an insult .... I think I like you!:)

Would be awesome when BI implement the shooting from vehicles thing, if you could pop out the turret and fire a Javelin/NLAW! They do that type of thing a lot in real life.

That's just what I need ... more work to do!:)

Can't help thinking it would mess with the turret config somewhat.

Perhaps firing from the crew hatches would more doable ...

We'll have to wait and see.

Great news... Loved this in A2.

Any chance we'll get Temperate versions too? Can't remember if your A2 ones had any jungle or European Paintjobs ?

tbh texturing isn't my favourite pastime but I'll probably have a punt at it!

what I need is a MTP camo scheme for vehicles ... one skin to suit them all ...

did I read about that somewhere or was I dreaming?

gj cleggy this is a vital bit of work man, we use your vec in A2 every day (as our mobile respawn)

can you add a little deployable camping table and tin mug set to the script? lol

If it helps we have an excellent texture guy who's doing our stuff, uniforms and re-skins etc ?

Let me know if you'd like some assistance

Actually that's a great idea, but as you're the config guru EB, you'd have to give me some pointers on how to do it!

Perhaps we could replace the 'wiping dog shite off my boot' animation with a 'tea drinking' animation (little finger extended of course).

If it helps we have an excellent texture guy who's doing our stuff

'a volunteer is worth ten pressed men' - and I love the way your actually volunteering someone else.:)

Will certainly bear your offer in mind, thanks.

At the moment I've still got a ton of work to do on the modelling side.

Interior is only 1% done and I've only got two res lods.

just make sure the mugs have blue rims lol... hehe sorry i was doing a good impersonation of a typical forum poster there.

i actually can make a deployable camp for you in a few mins, just let me know which bits you want in it, and i can send you the script and useraction part of the config.

we're going to add an apply camo function to the new chieftain we have in the workshop, and test it to see if it can calculate the best camo to use based on nearby trees... it would then select a texture based on those trees... hows that for engineering? same goes for desert and woodland camo nets...

also pook and i managed to set up the m113's in unsung to have removable main guns, so you can take it off the vehicle and use it manually. this would work better on the foxhound or mastiff or loader cuploa of the MBT's, rather than a CROWS mounted weapon, but it's all doable.

i think fun actions like "brew up" make a mod more interesting... so long as you can actually sit in the chair of course...
