WIP - Arma 3 MTVR Realism Mod

Recommended Posts

Arma III Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement Mod

To preface, I began this mod because I am fascinated with echelon support of modern war. It is a shame when the Arma 2 MTVR's were released with so few variants, so in this mod I plan to give them the credit that is due and expand the role and functionality of these vehicles.

The MTVR or Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement is a multi-role series of vehicles that are currently used by the United States Marine Corps and the Seabees (Mobile Construction Units) of the United States Navy. The MTVR replaces the old series of M939 trucks used by the Marines, while the Army opted for the FMTV. The plan of this mod is to release a variety of realistic MTVR variants, based off of the limited variants offered by BI for Arma 2. This is to include all realistic features such as the Armor Protection Kit, and variants such as the 8 wheeled LHS.

Features

  • Picture in Picture Mirrors
  • Phys-x support

Variants

  • Mk. 23 Standard Cargo Truck, With and without Armor Kits
  • Mk. 27 Extended Cargo Truck
  • Mk. 37 HIMARS Supply Vehicle? (This one is very tentative due to the amount of modeling needed)
  • 4x4 Short Bed
  • 9 Ton 6x6 LHS
  • 16.5 Ton 8x8 LHS
  • Potential of the Armed, "Deployment" Mk. 23 with additional gunners shield and other kit

Project Release

Currently in real life I am quite busy due to work and school, so I have no set release date. I will continue to post updates on this post and answer questions if anyone has them.

For now here is an early screenshot of the Mk. 23 With APK on the Cab:

Looking forward to this. Would it be possible to have a shipping container loaded on one of these with hiddenselection so it could be toggled on/off by a script, perhaps to simulate loading/unloading cargo?

Im looking forward to the armed variants. I thought A2 missed out on them.

Hmm! This I am not sure about. I am considering what I will do with the LHS Variants.. I would love some kind of system where you could load containers but I unfortunately have not a clue how to do that.

Also, quick update: Armored Troop Bay of the Mk. 23 Variant:

LHS? the load hauling system that is attached to the back of an MTV? unless you want to haul some connexs of equipment around i would suggest leaving the LHS out lol

Hello:

Yes, when I mean LHS I do infact mean the system you have mentioned! :p Indeed, it is silly as it has no real purpose but I do want to include a good variety of variants that were not included in the base of the game, so yes there will be LHS of both the 6x6 and 8x8

Update

The Mk. 23 is now in-game and has a fair amount of issues to correct but will serve as the starting point for which I will base the other variants on. The Phys-x needs to be improved greatly, but all six wheels have proper suspension. Mirrors do work and the lighting seems to work as well.

That looks absolutely fantastic, great work RichardsD! Are you planning on creating a variant with a turret on top?

@dancanman

Yes, I do plan to make armed variants of the Mk. 23 Troop Carrier. I may also do a "Deployment" one which will have additional kit such as some rucks, VS Panel, Desert Color for the body, and a Gunner Shield.

The standard non deployed variant will just feature the M2 without gunners shield however.

@Kescke

Yes, I did not notice this but I can add some faces behind to remove that issue

Thank you for your interest in this everyone. This is the first time I've done a military vehicle addon and I am certainly learning a great deal

Update

Hello guys, I've been working a bit and I've completed the Mk. 27 Cargo Variant. The main use of this variant is by Construction Battalions of the US Navy "Seabees". Due to the fact a heavier truck to haul more has no actual purpose in Arma 3, my variant features the rear seats folded down to hold 14 troops in the rear and 3 in the cab + the driver. Like every other variant this one can use the Armored Protection Kit, but I have not seen any photos with it equipped as this vehicle is not used infront of the wire in situations where that may be required

Here are some photos, enjoy!

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear god it has been months. No, I have not forgotten. In this time I've.. well completed a year at university, released a full other mod.. and much more. But no, I did not forget about this mod. What has been going on over the past few months on and off is building an Armed variant. I've never built an armed vehicle, but today I have finally assembled a Model.CFG that works the way I need it to. So, this mod will actually be released very soon. It will include MK 23, Armed and unarmed, APK, MK 27 Unarmed in two variants and a small 4x4 variant. Finally I shall get this released, just a few more issues to be ironed out and that will be it. Thank you for hoping it would actually release.. it has been a great amount of time.
