Marine Corps. USMC are some of the baddest people to deal with in a war. The Airforce is cool too. Very hi tech now. Army is so-so to me. Navy, well, heh. I like the marines, that can help you infer on the navy. But the part I do like are the Navy Seals.

Ooh, this one again!

Can we have a "who's the best special forces" one too?

No we cant, because we all know that the SAS are the best.

Marines, but I'm not thinking about USMC either
The Swedish Amphibious Corps with all its Kustjägare (Costal Rangers), Attackdykare (Attack divers) and regular Amfibiesoldater (Marines)

... although I might be a bit biased in that question

But every branch has its purpose:

Navy - Sombody needs to transport us to the action
Army - Somebody needs to hold the territory that we captured
Airfoce - Ummm... I don't know. I don't think the airforce is needed at all

They are as Denoir described, though the airforce obviously are used to hold the air, and Marines are like the navy's infantry. I think all ships of the line back in the earlier centuries would have a team of marines on board and mainly they were used as a boarding party. Nowadays I think they are still mainly oriented around aval operations (landings, diving etc), but they also do some of the same stuff as normal army infantry.

Coast guard nd National guard I really dont know much about.

yeah...wait till enemy's jet fighters bomb your Navy ships and obliterate the your army that was guarding the place you just took away from enemy.

i say airforce should not be taken granted. air superiority has proven to be a significant advantage in certain situations.

Coast Guards (in US) basically take care of US's waters. They act more like police.

National Guards...hmm...don't know that much, but they are state-based, state-sponsored military segment.(not sure on this though)
