ArmA 2 OA crashes to desktop every game

Every time I join a server and start playing, after about 5-10 min the game crashes to the desktop. I have tried reinstalling BE and verifying my game cache through Steam (what I bought the game through) yet it continues to happen.

are you using any mods? or just the base game?

I have DayZ installed but it is disabled. The last time I played ArmA was with DayZ around 3 months ago and it worked perfectly fine.

have you tried reinstalling it? if not backup your steam game and then reinstall (no download) and then its a case of seeing what happens from there.

Judging by the "AppVer: 1.62.95.248" part of the error, it seems you're using the 1.62 release version from a few months ago. Have you considered running the latest beta? Betas do come with crash fixes.

That doesnt explain the CTD though, it would just kick him from the server not CTD :/

Edit: also he stated he was using it with DayZ 3 months previous.

I tried updating to the latest beta yesterday but it has been a while since I have done that so I might have done it incorrectly. I will try a re-install then update to the latest beta and give an update.

Update: Did a re-install through steam and was able to play for about an hour or so before it crashed to the desktop. It seemed like the crash was due to a graphics issue, it happened right when I was revived and reloading all of the textured and I scoped in which made me crash. I will try down-grading my 3d resolution and see if I get better results after that.

I am about to load up the game for the first time since my last post so I will check my game settings and post it here.

I ran at higher settings when I played DayZ regularly 3-4 months ago but had to lower most of the settings when I started playing regular OA multiplayer. It seems like the lower I set my 3D res to, the longer I can stay on a server.

Just was able to play for about an hour again, then crashed when I zoomed in while a gunner in an apache.

For a while I was accidentally running the released 1.62 patch on my dedi server but the latest 1.62 beta on my client. This would result in a client crash to desktop after about 10 mins play. The fix obviously was to point my server startup batch file at the beta server exe.

I did a quick google search of "Error during v-buffer creation: error 8876017c" which I found in the last few lines of that RPT. It discussed the possibility of a sort of memory issue and once arma2.exe runs out of memory, it fails. There were 2 suggestions, one which manually sets the page file (I am not 100% sure how to do), and the other which sets -maxmem to a certain amount. I assume that you do the -maxmem parameter in the launch options via steam so I will try that now and update with the results.

Another CTD while using the A-10 in the armory. Was able to play for roughly 40min and it crashed mid-flight.
