ARMA 2 on Ubuntu need help

I am new to linux and am finding it challenging. All I want to do is play arma 2 dayz. When I boot the game it runs horribly slow. So slow that I would have to wait 5-10 minutes to get a response from clicking on any of the options available at the home screen. If anyone knows of ways to get this running faster please im open to suggestion.

Like all method to troubleshooting a 3D game, check if your cpu or gpu is at 100% and causing a bottleneck. if it does, reduce the video resolution until you get an acceptable framerate. Then from there you can start doing minor tweaks to get more performance out of your rig.
