Character runs slower than everyone else

I bought and installed Arma 2 combined operations through steam. I played the DayZ mod with friends and noticed that my character runs way slower than everyone else. The difference is very significant, I only move about a third as fast as they do when I crawl in prone, crouch walk, walk, run and even climb ladders etc. Other players report that my character looks like he is sliding on ice and taking a couple steps forward and then one back and general being very glitchy looking. After more testing I found that the problem was also present for me on a normal Arma 2: operation arrow head server. I reinstalled Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead and the DayZ mod and it did not fix it.

The problem is not caused by my internet connection or my computer being slow because I tested it on a server I hosted myself and my computer is plenty powerful to play the game at a good frame rate. It is not caused by my character being injured or carrying a heavy weapon, I tested it with a freshly respawned character.

I would very much like to find a fix for this as soon as possible. It severely effects my play experience along with my teams. In DayZ I can not keep up with my team and slow them down making it take up to 3 times longer to travel between locations. I am probably not going to be able to play with my team now because I hinder there progress so much. Also when attacked by zombies or other players I can't move evasively and don't stand a chance of running away. It makes the overall feel of the game sluggish and tedious.

I can't think of any more ways to fix this problem so I would appreciate it if some of the tech people could try and diagnose exactly what the problem is. I deserve to have it fixed because it makes a game I payed for nearly unplayable.

The problem is not caused by my internet connection....

Have you compared your ping to the much faster players? What is the FPS of the other players compared to yours?

Have you got the game patched to the latest, i.e. 1.60 if its Arrowhead.

Edit: If you have your weapon raised i.e. rifle or whatever, then break into a run, you will run slower, same happens when you crawl.

i too am slower than other players, its quite annoying.. ive tried to keep what i have running to the game only, and im still slow, my ping usually is around 43 and i have seen other players of same or lower ping run faster

I´ve seen that very rarely in online matches, too.
Looks like the player is somewhat moving on the spot, he makes three steps forward but actually moves only two...
could be some kind of desync, dunno :/

Simple three step solution:

1) Equip a launcher of any type
2) Run sideways to the right
3) Let everybody else eat your dust!

The anim used for running right (no forward involved) with a launcher still plays alot faster than diagonal jogging
