Question about Expansions folder in Combined Ops

Just got a new copy of arma2 Combined Operations. already had Arma 2.
Now I find an Expansion folder in the main Arma folder, and in it another Addons folder.

When I install my addons, do any of them have to go in C:/Prog./bohemia interactive/ArmA2/Expansion ?

    OR...

    can I leave them in C:/Prog./bohemia interactive/ArmA2 ?

because then I would have duplicates ....it's a noob question isn't it....

Right now I have everything doubled and I am not getting any conflicts but........

You want to leave your files as they were installed alone. If you want to use user made addons, make a folder in your arma 2 (or OA) root folder called something descriptive, say @MyAddons, and then the pbo files for that addon will go in @MyAddons\Addons.

    thanks for your reply.
Yes, I am using the mod folders method. I was just wondering if I should be placing my @mod_whatever folders in the c:/.../expansion folder or only in the original C:/../ArmA2 folder.

Place all mod folders in the Arma2 directory where both the Arma2 and arm2oa.exe are.
The game will read both the expansions folder and the Arma2 directory when you use the Arma2oa.exe for Combined ops or OA.

In the root folder. The Expansions folder seems to be read like a mod folder. If you don't use the -mod= switch you should be able to select what mods you wish to use ingame using the expansions browser.

Thanks, got it. Rearranged all folders accordingly.
