Question Some advice please, server setup etc.

    Hi,

We have a dedicated server, so due to getting a bit disheartened with the FPS shovelware on offer at the moment, we thought we would set up two 64 player servers for ARMA II and Operation Arrowhead. As a community we are completely new to this franchise, so any advice on server set up config would be greatly appreciated. Is battleeye a must, reliable etc? we usually use PBbans etc, but i see the game is unsupported.

Is there any specific maps to avoid, any particular server vars to disable etc for performance. Any links to good learning resources would also be greatly appreciated. I will of course look throught the forum but i wanted to get a post up first to gauge any quick responses/advice.

    regards

Your questions are best served on this forum:

    ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration

There are a large array of stickied topics you should read through first, and, on browsing their titles, would seem to answer most of your initial questions. Battleeye is optional, as with all things, but it's the equivalent of Punkbuster. Given the renewed interest in the franchise and its popularity, the inevitable rise of hackers/cheaters has also followed, so I'd advise using it from day one.

Good luck with the server, and welcome to ArmA.

Thanks for the response and the move

Few things im struggling with. How do i specify gametype and map rotation? The server is 64 player but seems to be running as a 16 player server at the moment?
