Yep... no surprises there alright, but the reason i bring up this is to allow us to compare the mainstream media coverage of both reports.

Google "Syria: Torture Centers Revealed": (Today - 3 July 2012 - hours old)
    - 1st 10 results brings Huffington Post's coverage
    - Google News search totals 2 Hits (I have no doubts this will increase)

Google "Syria: Armed Opposition Groups Committing Abuses": (20 March 2012 - 3 months old)
    - 1st 10 results not one mainstream media appears (but a guardian.co.uk instance as a result of a user comment mentioning it)
    - Google News search totals 1 Hit of a known alternative news website

    Up for anyone to interpret.

    [EDIT/UPDATE]

    Google News Search for:

"Syria: Torture Centers Revealed" - "For 27 Detention Sites: Locations, Commanders’ Names, Torture Methods"
90 Results found under 24 Hours (as expected)

"Syria: Armed Opposition Groups Committing Abuses" - "Kidnappings, Forced Confessions, and Executions"
1 Result found over 3 Months

Is this anecdotal? Is it because googlebot is broken? Or is it because, indeed, there was only one news website (listed as such by googlebot) that actually reported the (equally damaging) HRW report of the 20th March 2012?

What does this tell us regarding mainstream media coverage of the conflict?
Should we rely on these mainstream media alone to form our views on the Syrian conflict?

What interests does this "balanced" reporting serve (if any)?
Peacemakers? Warmongers? Syrian ethnicities? Kurds? Shia, Sunni, Alawites, Druze...?
Religious? Secular? Patriots? Nationalists? Capitalists? Socialists? Industrialists? Liberals? Journalists? Propagandists? Sectarians? Zionists? Globalists? Communists?

    Cui Bono?

Well maybe the level of reporting of each case reflects the frequency of it occurring? As the Syrian government is more organised, better funded, has the man power and purpose built facilities maybe they arrest and torture more people? They also have the benefit of experience, after all they have been governing using these methods for decades.

It's hard to argue that there is something wrong with the reporting when the actual frequency of the event is so one sided also.

Well, I'm sure the exactly same news about the very same syrian government abuses are replicated more times than their opposition counterparts. I hope that sentence makes some sense :P

In the sunny day of 8th of august I've seen that many news agencies were telling that Russian tanks are advancing at poor innocent Georgia. But later they pardoned and said that tanks shown at those news were Georgian but not Russian. And it was not Gori but Tskhinval. All this was done after massive counter campaign by pro-Russian media. So I don't see anything strange when only Syrian government bad stuff is shown. Information war, nothing special.

Well, that's the way it is - information war, nothing personal.

With Syria, it's different: you have whole brigades defecting with generals and colonels on a daily basis. You can view our progress in real time at militaryphotos.net forum, search for "Syrian Uprising" thread there.

I'm registered there, and already received ban 'for posting unauthorized propaganda' in the Syrian topic (doubted that all that videos are true and told why I was doubt) So I can say information war takes place there too. There were already fake videos of defected pilot with his Mi-24 (filmed at some museum of military hardware). There are some videos showing fake blood used by so called victims of evil dictatorship.

Well I guess the logic follows that if you have found a couple of videos that are fake it must all be made up. Russia, China and Syria are right and the vast majority of the rest of the world have fallen for a massive hoax by some Syrian Terrorists. I'm not sure why everyone can't see that 1 example or 1 fake video cancels out everything else, are you all stupid or something? Listen to what Spooky says, he's got this nailed down from back to front, you can't argue against his overwhelming evidence.
Just look at the number of countries that fell for it! I apologise for calling you a mushroom spooky, I got it completely wrong:

16 Feb 2012 General Assembly Adopts Resolution Strongly Condemning ‘Widespread and Systematic’ Human Rights Violations by Syrian Authorities
Text Passes by 137 Votes in Favour to 12 against, with 17 Abstentions
Strongly condemning continued widespread and systematic human rights violations by the Syrian authorities, the General Assembly today voted overwhelmingly to call on both the Government and allied forces and armed groups “to stop all violence or reprisals immediately”.
Adopting an Arab-backed resolution by a recorded vote of 137 in favour to 12 against, with 17 abstentions, the Assembly expressed grave concern at the deteriorating situation in Syria, and condemned a raft of violations carried out by the authorities, such as the use of force against civilians, the killing and persecution of protestors and journalists, and sexual violence and ill-treatment, including against children.
The Assembly called on Syria to abide by its obligations under international law, and demanded that the Government, in line with the 2 November 2011 Action Plan of the League of Arab States, and its decisions of 22 January and 12 February 2012, without delay, stop all violence and protect its people, release all those detained during the unrest, withdraw all armed forces from cities and towns, guarantee peaceful demonstrations and allow unhindered access for Arab League monitors and international media.
