Tank crew operation - what am I missing here?

    Hi all,

When I am the commander of a tank (with full crew), I want more control over where the main gun is pointing and what I can order the gunner to shoot at without actually jumping into the gunner seat myself. Isn't there a way I can tell the gunner to traverse the turret to a specific point, as if I was telling him "traverse to 3 o'clock"? I know that if I right click on a living enemy target, the gunner will traverse to and target the enemy no problem. But, what if I want my gunner to scan in a specific direction when there is no target visible?

I've also noticed that if I right click on something like a house or an abandoned vehicle, the gunner usually just traverses the turret past it and keeps going rather than locking on to it. In fact, the gunner just rotates the turret around in neverending circles without locking on to anything.

Am I missing something like a keyboard command that isn't listed?

Try POS1 or one of the buttons around it while being commander, that should put the gun where you are looking (if you haven´t changed your keys too much), and of course only if my mind doesn´t play tricks on me again..

REALISM! No, fuck that, FIRE THE LASER!

You can tell the AI to scan horizon (360) or any direction in regards to a heading (N,NW,W etc).
To do this you press the F key of the gunner, he is one of the guys with the cross hair icon in the tank, and press 3-7 or scan horizon or 3-8 with option 1-8 for heading.

Another thing you can do is that if you press the F key for the soldier and hold down left ALT. The icon will change and give you a "Watch there" option. Left click to force the unit to watch there. It only works on the ground or objects, not in the air.

    (Tip)
I also recommend you sett the gunner in "Engage at will" F key 3,5. You will still need to use the command fire for the main gun, but it will usually automatically shoot at enemies it sees with the coax (machine gun on the main gun)if you have swapped to it.

If you want to do all this with voice commands check out my sig. It works for IF44 since it uses the same command system as Arma 2.
Hope these tips help you out.
