    Paradox Interactive Games

I'm wondering if anyone else here is a fan of the grand strategy games made by Paradox Interactive.

Personally I've been playing HoI 3 for a while and have absolutely loved it. It's based around World War II, with a timeline that spans the years 1936-1948. The games are very easy to mod as well.

Originally not Paradox games, but as Paradox has bought AGEOD I am owner of some of their products,
    AGEODs American Civil War (AACW)
    Rise of Prussia (RoP)

Both based on the same engine, free demos with limited scenarios available.
Not playing them lately, but while they have a steep learning curve, "Easy to play, hard to master". they can be a lot of fun (also against AI).

I have to admit I have never played Risk (though I am familiar with it), but HoI3 is a bit deeper as it actually goes into technology, tactics, etc.

You can, for example, perform a proper Blitzkrieg offensive in this game if you have the supply lines to support your troops.

I loved HOI 2, but HOI 3 just felt weird.

It's too restricted and I don't really like the new combat system.

You used to be able to change your government (over time) to anything you wanted. Now each country is stuck being whatever it is unless you have a scripted event.

If I could have HOI 2 with the networking system of their Clauswitz engine (I think that's the name of the one HOI 3, EU 3, Vicky 2 and CK 2 use), then I'd still be playing HOI 2.

But HOI 2's networking is so bad that games get massively desynced unless you play at turtle speeds, which is boring as shit.

Crusader Kings 2 is awesome. I think its their best game to date.

    I own EU3 and HOI3. Started out with EU2 & HOI2 long ago.

Great games, with a nice learning curve and a lot of dept/detail. Multiplayer EU3 is very fun, but yeah kinda hard to get it to work. (People not showing up on dates, firewall problems, crashes, desync...)

I have Mount & Blade: Warband as well
