ArmA2 Major freezing after 15 minutes

Recommended Posts

Hello all, i'm having some trouble with my ArmA2.

Just to note, I can usually play A2 on 'High' Settings perfectly, with no issues.. but around this month, i've had troubles on Multiplayer only,.

After about 10 minutes of playing normally, the game freezes, and then stays frozen, and every 30 seconds, it stops freezing for about a second, then goes back to freezing. I find this really frustrating as I have to restart the game to play another 10 minutes.

I have Duala Mod pack installed, as well as a language change mod from German to English. this only happens on multiplayer.

Thanks for the help.

Just installed A2 Free to try and counter this problem.. no solution, all it says is 'ArmA 2 Free has stopped working'. Why can't I just play again like I used to? Just removed all mods.. and all language addons, and re-installed BattlEye. I am going to throw my computer out of the window soon.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I would start by making sure all hardware is ok.

check your systems temperatures and fan speeds, make sure all fans are dust free and work fine.

try running a memory check wouldnt hurt either, though faulty ram would probably rather crash the system completely.

something must have changed on your system, either hardware wise or software.

check your task manager for running applications and services and see what else might be hugging resources.

do a virus / malware scan.

theres a lovely app called "game Booster" that disables all unnecessary background applications to make sure nothing hogs resources.

posting system specs or dxdiag report might help some hardware savvy people here pin point a problem too.

Hello,

Your computer specs, and version of game and what your running would provide some more details.

We get the idea its freezing but it can be anything, thing Im leaning towards is your gpu overheating, but we wont know

til you give us some computer specs, as well as what your running, any mods, how many, how are you launching them ect,.

Here is my DXDiag report:

------------------

System Information

Time of this report: 5/5/2012, 22:19:08

Machine name: DESKTOP-PC

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120305-1505)

Language: English (Regional Setting: English)

System Manufacturer: OEM

System Model: OEM

BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

Processor: Pentium® Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz

Memory: 4096MB RAM

Available OS Memory: 3326MB RAM

Page File: 2532MB used, 4117MB available

DirectX Version: DirectX 11

System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)

DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled

DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode

The issue is, i'm getting two types of problems.

It always starts after about 10 - 15 minutes in game; and what happens is on ArmA2, it will freeze for 10 seconds, then resume for about two seconds, then freeze again, which leads me to think this is not an FPS error, as it runs perectly fine for that two seconds.

On ArmA2 Free, it will simply minimize the game screen and just pop up with an 'ArmA2Free has stopped working'.

For Gunter;

Mods - I have removed them all.

Version: 1.11 on both A2 and A2Free.

Launching: Right click on application --> Run as Administrator (Does the same error if I click normally too)

Thanks for the support.

This problem still persists, and when I just attempted to launch ARMA2, it simply blackscreened and forced me to do a restart.

I am stuck with playing ARMA2Free for multiplayer (which will only last 15 minutes a time) and ARMA2 for campaign/missions.. something is definitely not right here.

Thanks.

Hi, can you post what temperatures are you getting at load ( after said 10-15 min) on you CPU and GPU?

Did you overclock you gpu card? (You didn't say what graphic card you have btw)

Also, playing all high on E5300 - stock? Not likely. Try lowering all to low medium and see if crashes happens again

Hi all,

I saw this thread and decided to post to see if anyone could help me. basically my problem is pretty much the same except my computer pretty much crashes randomly. I could be able to play ArmA 2 online for an hour and my computer would crash, next time it could be 5 minutes, then maybe 2 hours, then maybe I could literally get into a game, take a step and it would crash. More often than not it will say "ArmA 2 has stopped working". This has been going on for a while and I'll be honest its starting to get really annoying. I downloaded 'Razer Game Booster' as someone suggested on here to see if I could maybe optimise my comp to run a bit better and I did the crash report and it came up with this. I hope you can in some way tell whats going on with my comp by this because honestly, I haven't got a clue.
