Introduction
Hello,
My name is Tijai and I am one of the admins for the [OAP] ArmA 2 server.
[OAP] have been in existance since 2001 and initially started as a mature clan running public and War servers for the popular Tactical OPs Unreal tournement mod.
We have been involved and run dedicated public servers and wars for Call of duty, Battlefield, TF2 etc.
[OAP] are mainly UK based with some EU members.
We have been involved with running a an ArmA server since the release of Armed Assault (1) and at this time run a dedicated ArmA 2 server from a Xeon server with a 1gb feed with unlimited gaming bandwidth.
We run an active forum and 32 (Ithink) slot Teamspeak Server.
Others games hosted at the moment include TF2, COD 4, Tactical Ops and Minecraft.
The POINT
...to this long winded introduction is we are looking to boost our ranks, but not in the normal way...
As time has moved forward as we all know , PC gaming has changed.
These days the main pull is for the BF3 or Call of duty with hosted multiplayer servers.
Over the yearts our ranks have dwindled, but mainly we are getting old. The clue is in the name :)
[OAP] now have an average age of 30-40 years old and with other life commitments, gaming has got more and more casual for alot of members.
With this in mind we would like to keep our Dedicated server running healthily for those of us still around and new members recently joined.
What we are looking for in the first instance is a like minded ArmA 2 squad without a home.
The way I see things we can offer a dedicated server, Teamspeak access, forums and support for an ArmA2 squad who are looking to bring things together and develop for the future.
At the moment the server we run is Vanilla ArmA 2 (which allows access to ArmA free users.)
We will of course be happy to run whatever is required by democratic choice.
I myself run the client for ArmA/OA/BAF/PMC, project reality and I44 as do some other existing members.
This can all be discussed and agreed with interested parties.
We dont mind if the server is used for Co-op or PvP, as long as any arranged wars are posted in our member forums.
Clan / public days can be arranged.
The Lowdown
As we all know a decent dedicated server costs to run.
We have always run ours as an even split between paying members of [OAP]
This means that the more members we have on board, the less the 'subs' are.
At the moment the payment for this year will be between £20 and £30 per member- to be decided depending on number of members, which as you probably know is far less than the market average.
With that payment a member can either be a full [OAP] giving full access to the forums, full teamspeak access with war channels if required, Admin rights on the ArmA2 server.
Of course if an existing armA2 squad is tempted then we can easily work something out with regards to passwording or keeping your Clan Identity.
