    6000 visibile distance playable with GameBooster

    I'd finely tuned OA/CO and had it working nicely at around 2000-3000 Visibile distance but I recently was playing a chopper mission so upped it to around 6000 for that.

    Then I forgot to reduce it and started a Battlefield LAN game and it was unplayably jerky right at the start inside the compund. I'd recently installed GameBooster so Alt-tabbed out and put it into Boost mode and was delighted that it got rid of all the jerkiness, so now I can play ground missions with 6000 visible distance as well. I haven't got round to measuring the FPS yet, but it seems fine to me, so I just wanted to share this tip in case it helps others.

    All Gamebooster does is stop some services and clean the RAM, so I'm not sure which services being stopped gives the boost but I don't really care. I like that it lets me restart all the services with one click as well, rather than having to mess around in Services turning them off/on manually.

    I really should do some fps tests as I've got plenty of results from before when I was tweaking it. Anyway, I'll post my graphics settings so you can see what I'm using:

    Visibility: 6175
    Quality Preference: Very High
    3D and Interface Resolution: 1920x1080
    Texture Detail: Very High
    Video Memory: Default
    Anisotropic Filtering: Very High
    Antialiasing: Disabled
    Terrain Detail: Very Low
    Object Detail: Normal
    Shadow Detail: High
    HDR Quality: Normal
    Post Process Effects: Very Low
    Interface Size: Normal
    Aspect Ratio: 16:9
    Vsync: Enabled

    and from the cfg:

    AToC=7;
    PPAA=3;
    PPAA_Level=2;
    Windowed=0;
    FXAA=0;

    Apparently setting Video Memory to Default lets it use as much VRAM as the card has, whilst the other settings restrict it (I don't recall the numbers but Very High might be 1GB, whereas I have a 2GB card).

    I have 2x6970 and have the exact same behaviour using the "Default" memory setting so you are not alone.

    What would be good is some actual benchmarks with GameBooster on vs. off.
    Core i7 920 @ 3.995 GHz, HT off
    12 GB OCZ DDR3-1600
    GTX 680
    2x Intel X25-M 80 GB SSD
    Windows 7 Pro x64

    ArmA2/OA Settings:
    1920x1080 w/ View Distance at ~3600
    Video Memory at Default
    MSAA Very High, AToC=0, SMAA Ultra
    Post Processing at Very Low
    All other settings at Very High
