Do you want us to start reducing our Avatars to 2x2 pixels?

LOL, yes with a 160x160 resolution it might be better

    Anyway, here's the setup:

My good old Palm III - grandpa PDA, but still going strong. You can see the flashpoint forum logo:

My rather new nokia 6310. Nice phone.

And together over infra red. I have bluetooth and GPRS on the phone, but since I have no bluetooth on the Palm, I went for the good ol'e 9600 bps GSM connection. A bit different then my normal 10 Mbit

So now you know; Wherever I am, I can still close topics

Well, so-so about 500 €. I should perhaps buy a new PDA, but I like the Palm. It is light and has very good battery time. The newer Pocket PC's are larger, cost a lot and have very short battery life.

I never liked palm pilots very much.. Its a good idea but i dont have any need for one. Hows the internet speed on your nokia? Is it about as fast as 56k/faster/slower?

It's much slower if I use GSM as I did now. Then it is 9,6 kbps. It's however not the phones fault, it's the GSM network's. If I use GPRS I can have 128 kbps, which is decent. The problem with both those is that it is bloody expensive. A normal GSM connection costs about 0,6 €/minute. (1 € ~ $1). With GPRS you don't pay per time but per size. Normally you can for 10 €/month download 500 kb. After that it is insane, about 1 €/10 kb.

    Question

    Heh. Sort of Denoir.

We're finally into something I can speak on with authority.

GPRS is capable of 128kbps... IF there is no one on your cell site conducting voice conversations or other data users. GPRS generally averages 19-28kbps.

I am hoping that I can pick one of the
Kyocera or Audiovox PDA phones on an employee purchase plan. then I wont need a cable or IR

I am just hoping that Kyocera will update theirs to 1XRTT, so I can get up to 160kbps instead of around 14.4-19kbps on standard CDMA. Plus I really prefer the Palm OS to Pocket PC
