Try running Origin as admin, also try disable whatever AV/firewall programs you have running to see if theres a problem there.

Not turning my firewall off just to let origin run, I guess if my firewall and anti-virus is blocking it, it has a good reason. Looks like I wont ever be buying another EA game then, especially after they destroyed C & C and the GAME group.

I had to "allow" BF3 in Avast to get things to work, this mostly concerned matchmaking challenges and as far as I am aware applies only to Avast.

Well it was just a suggestion so you could find out if that was your problem, if not then well something else is causing the problems your having. I'm pretty sure your computer will survive a few minutes with Origin running.

My sister bought me a copy of BF3 for my birthday. Good old girl, I'm just waiting for a set of parts of me new Eyefinity setup and I'll be giving it a test run at the end of the week.

The one that stops Origin tipping off EA about my donkey porn. That sounds like my kind of paranoia pleasing utility.

As a business point of view they have made a smart move, why let people make stuff and distribute it for free, when you can make mediocre stuff labelled as 'Destruction HD', 'Super Huge Never Seen Before Maps' for £10-20 each time.

At the end of the day if they made mod tools available it would ruin EA's profit margins, and that's all they care about.

I find myself playing older games more and more these days. This business of selling half a game for $60.00 and then releasing the other half in dribs and drabs for $10.00 a shot is really out of control now.

I wish they would just go back to the days of expansions which would provide another ~20 hours of original content (not content that was part of the original game) for $20-30 as opposed to this legalized thievery.

I don't have any problems with people making money but it was a lot better for gamers when there was a mix of creativity and capitalism as opposed to unbridled greed.

The line in the sand that you're drawing between "a mix of creativity and capitalism" and "unbridled greed" is completely arbitrary. These "half games" selling for $60 are extremely popular; clearly, the model is being accepted by consumers.

what? if you cant be arsed to unlock the stuff you should get it for free? XD

even if a new player buys this stuff if they cant use it properly in game then it doesnt bother me, they wasted their own money in my view

P.S. I dont get the whole anti-EA/DICE thing for them trying to make money, they arent forcing you to buy this stuff, like every other company on the planet they are trying to make money off their product
