Thread: Super low GPU usage on MP only???

    Yeah, it is an odd issue. In Chernarus and other islands with massive forests (Celle, for example) I get low GPU usage but also slowdown when looking toward trees. Haven't tried any tweaks like the Proper vegetation, but I think it's more of an engine issue.
    Core i7 920 @ 3.995 GHz, HT off
    12 GB OCZ DDR3-1600
    Galaxy GTX 680 (light overclock)
    Samsung 830 Series 256 GB SSD
    Windows 7 Pro x64

    ArmA2/OA Settings:
    1920x1080 w/ View Distance at ~3600
    Video Memory at Default
    MSAA Very High, AToC=0, SMAA Ultra
    Post Processing at Very Low
    All other settings at Very High

    Erg... Well any ways to overcome this or tweaks? -cpucount=4 helped until the server had lots of bots (I was both host and client when testing)

    Suma said in there that client FPS is not affected much by AI, though.

    EDIT: Or is he saying that's not the case? I don't really understand his reply.

    Voted up and wrote something myself. Kind of a frustrating issue when you have $500 worth of GPUs and they're running at 25% utilization half the time.

    well this is tricky

    low GPU utilization can also indicate CPU or bus can't feed it fast enough

    or that the engine uses only features which are maxxed on 25% (i know thats more likely not true)

    or bug (always possibility)

    Well the thing is this is Only in Multiplayer.. In single player I can play a CPU Challenging mission like Take The island (Intel I5 760 @ 4.0 ghz) and get 90% usage and 30+ FPS (And is very smooth), while on MP if im client or host, If I play a mission with less AI, I get 30% usage, and super choppy FPS (at around 20), really game breaking ..

    I'd like to think I'm not CPU limited at almost 4 GHz quad core, but who knows. But like Burdy said, it seems to only be in MP so it's probably not that.
